CROC TALK BRIEF
Nancy Ryles Elementary Newsletter ~ June 8, 2018
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE by Kayla Bell
Dear Families,
We are in the final home stretch of the 2017-2018 school year. With 7 days to go, students and teachers are still engaged and learning new things. Our fifth graders are getting excited about the prospect of middle school, but they are also becoming more nostalgic about Nancy Ryles and the friends and memories they have established here. In our main lobby, pictures of our fifth graders as babies are posted. This is a Nancy Ryles tradition and students love to figure out which picture belongs to which fifth grader.
I want to thank the many volunteers who attended our Volunteer Dessert earlier this week. We cannot thank you enough for the many hours of volunteer service you have provided us. Thank you for supporting our school.
Each year brings changes to our school. I am still working on staffing our team, but I do have some information about those who are departing that I can share with you at this time.
Jana Chun will not be returning to Nancy Ryles next year. Jana has accepted a position at Pacific University as the Director of Hawai’i Outreach and Programming. Jana has spent 28 years in elementary education. We will miss her tremendously, but we are happy she is continuing her journey at the college level. Ohana Forever!
Crystal Gittings graduated from Oregon State University and the Teach for Beaverton program this spring. Crystal has accepted a third grade teaching position at Sato Elementary. Crystal has been an amazing asset to our third grade team and to our students. We wish her the very best at Sato. Congratulations Crystal!
Hailey Nordstrom has accepted a teaching position in the Sherwood School District. This position puts her closer to home and allows her to return to a Title 1 building. Hailey will also continue to work on her Master’s degree next year. We have enjoyed getting to know her this year and her presence will be missed. Sherwood is getting a wonderful teacher and student advocate. Congratulations Hailey!
Sydney Krostoski will be joining the staff at Erroll Hassell next year as an instructional assistant. We were fortunate enough to have the opportunity to work with her this year. She has been a great support to our students here at Nancy Ryles. Sydney, you will be missed!!
Joseph Chung will also be leaving us. We have appreciated his time and his energy. He has been an important part of our intervention team. Joseph has also photographed many fun moments around our school and helped support our Twitter page.
Andie Sangston will be joining the staff at Bonny Slope as their Technology Instructional Assistant. We were lucky to have Andie here with us these past three years. Not only has Andie been supporting students in our specialist schedule, but she has helped us begin the work on our MakerSpace. We know Bonny Slope is lucky to have her. Andie, you will be missed!
More information about staffing and grade level adjustments will be shared in our June 19 Croc Talk Brief.
