ACT Focus
March 21st is the date that ALL juniors across the state of Kentucky will sit for the ACT exam. One of the biggest issues all students face when taking the ACT is timing. ACT scores are not only based on how well students can answer questions, but also how quickly they do so. Please give your students exposure to the timed test format and allow students to track their own progress as they become more familiar and comfortable with being timed. Give an ACT practice test, but only give them a portion of it with an equal fraction of time allotted. Gradually build up the length of these tests throughout the trimester until your students are hitting the correct pace for the full-length test.
Our junior students have access to several different ACT prep tools, including CERT and Albert.io (formerly Learnerator). The link to both is on the school website. Just click For Students-->Academic Resources and Programs-->Cert or Learnerator. For CERT, students use their school email address as their login and either warriors or swhs as their password. For Learnerator, students need an access code. If they are interested, send them to Ashley Cummins for these codes.

PBIS Self-Assessment Survey (SAS)-Due Friday, February 3rd
Below is a link to our school's Self-Assessment Survey (SAS) that is mandated through our PBIS program. Please take 10-15 minutes to mindfully fill out this survey. It is entirely anonymous. Our school's PBIS committee takes the time to implement changes to our yearly action plan based on the results of this survey. Parent-teacher conferences and/or our work day Friday would be great times to take this, so I will send out friendly reminders on both of those days! The survey is due by Friday, February 3rd. If you have any questions, please feel free to email or call me. Thanks in advance for your time!
Youth Mental Health First Aid
It is a requirement in our district that ALL staff must be trained in Youth Mental Health First Aid. The training will be provided on the iLearn days this year, located at Northern Middle and Southern Middle in their libraries. The training runs from 8:00 - 3:30 and will hold up to 36 people. If you haven't attended this training, please email Lori Price with the specific location (NMS or SMS) and the specific iLearn day (Day 1, Day 2, or Day 3) and carbon Ms. Ellis when you send it.
