Letter from Mrs. Gray - Art Teacher

Dearest Howbert Community,

This is my last year teaching. It is a bitter-sweet decision for me. Teaching at Howbert has been one of the greatest joys and honors of my life! Earning your students' trust and being part of their creative growth is a responsibility that I've never taken for granted. My time as an educator has brought more good to my life and personal growth than I could have imagined! Thank you, families, for your trust in me as well. The Howbert Community is a rare thing that continues to grow and keeps it's Hornets close.

I'm not leaving town, just moving on to other things. (More art making, of course!) I hope to see you all in the future at Howbert events!

With Love,

Susie Weiss Gray

Mrs. Sasha Nally

Mrs. Sasha Nally has served at Howbert for several years as an ELL educational assistant. She supports many students throughout the school.

Recently she as begun a program to become a school counselor. Because she will need to devote a lot of time to her own learning, she has decided to leave her position as ELL educational assistant at Howbert.

I know you all have seen and felt the positive benefits Shasha has provided to staff and students at Howbert. We will all super miss her being part of our staff.

Sasha's last day will be May 12th.

BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL CARE FOR 2022-2023 at Howbert

We are looking at the possibility of being able to host a YMCA before and after school care program next school year. Our ability to do so depends on the level of interest and ultimately the number of students that would enroll in the program.

If you would be interested in Howbert Elementary hosting a before and after school care through the YMCA, please complete the short form linked below.

American Girl Club

Hey, Howbert 1st - 5th graders: This is our last American Girl Club for this school year.
Come join us in the Nest on EITHER Thursday, May 12th OR Tuesday, May 17th from 2:30-4:00 p.m. in the Hornet's Nest. Students may bring any doll or stuffty of their choosing. They do not need an American Girl doll to enjoy our club.

In order to try to accommodate all interested students, I am giving 1st -5th graders a choice in which date above to attend. Please choose only one date below. Students will only meet one time. If you can attend either date, which will help me balance the club, please choose the EITHER option. I will give your child a note telling them which club day/time they will meet and send an email home to you.

Please fill out the form linked below (which serves as a permission slip) and send in $2 for snacks and supplies to Mrs. Tatum by end of the day on Monday, May 9th. If the form is filled out but the fee is not sent in, the student will lose their spot in the club. If too many students want to be in the club, we will hold a lottery.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: 30TH STREET CORRIDOR PROJECT

Fontanero Street lane closures west of 30th Street start Monday for approximately one week

Emergency sanitary sewer work requires 24/7 lane closures on Fontanero Street west of 30th Street starting at 6 a.m., Monday, May 9.

Fontanero will be reduced to a single lane in each direction for approximately one week while crews make service line repairs. Drivers should anticipate frequent traffic configuration changes as work proceeds across Fontanero. We appreciate your patience while crews work to resolve this issue as soon as possible. Utility service disruptions are not anticipated.
