force and motion

Did you know you're always moving, even if you try to stand as still as you can? Well, because the earth is moving, you're moving too! Newton's first law states that everything in motion stays in motion and anything at rest stays at rest unless acted on by an outside force. Another form of force and motion is simple machines. There are six simple machines. Let's go check them out.

Laws of motion

1st law of motion (law of inertia)

Anything at rest stays at rest and anything in motion stays in motion unless acted on by an outside force. Like when you kick a soccer ball. The friction of the grass slows the ball to a stop.

2nd law of motion (F=ma)

Force = mass x acceleration. For instance, when you try to push a car up or down a hill. Force = mass x acceleration.

3rd law of motion (action-reaction law)

For every action there is a equal and opposite reaction. Like when a rocket takes off, the fuel, coming out of the bottom of the rocket, it would push the rocket upward.
