SOCIAL, ACADEMIC AND BEHAVIOR SCREENER

Attention Parents/Guardians:

Your student will have another opportunity to increase their awareness of their social and emotional behaviors through completing a social, academic and behavior screener. The screener, mySAEBRS, will ask students a total of 20 questions and will be completed in under 10 minutes. The student’s teacher will also complete a similar screener based on their observations of the students. This optional screener will allow school staff to identify universal and targeted areas for growth focused on students being able to regulate their emotions, develop positive relationships and make positive decisions. Your students and their teachers completed this earlier this year in the winter. This will be done three times a year in years to come.

Feel free to contact Katrina Maclore with any questions or for more information. If you would like to opt your child out of the screening process please complete this opt out form by May 1st, 2022.

THE GIVING TREE

Did you know The Giving Tree started in April of 2008? Our first location was at the current Bay View in the old concession stand from when the building was a high school. At that time, we only focused on food. Today we support students and families with so much more than just food!

This month we are collecting canned fruit. Please feel free to send donations with your students to put in the collections bins/carts near the main office of school. Items can also be dropped off during school hours.

2MYLES4AUTISM

I would like to personally invite you to join our 11th Annual 2myles4autism Run/Walk event on Saturday, April 23 at 9:00 am at Meadowbrook Elementary! We have dubbed this event as our "10th Annual Event - On Repeat" (because we had to be virtual last year, we thought we'd recelebrate our 10th annual event). This event, named after my son Myles, helps to raise awareness for autism and to raise funds to support students with autism in the Howard-Suamico School District. Our past 10 events have been a huge success and we are hoping that, with your help, this year’s event will continue to raise much-needed awareness about autism. Did you know that 1 in 44 children are diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder? When we started this event eleven years ago, that number was about 1 in 150!

REGISTER BEFORE 11:59 PM ON SUNDAY, APRIL 3 TO GUARANTEE THAT YOU WILL GET A T-SHIRT AT THE EVENT (if you register on April 4 or after, you will still get a t-shirt but it will come after the event - CLICK HERE to see this year's t-shirt design). To register online, CLICK HERE or access a paper registration form - CLICK HERE. Our registration fee is very affordable - $10 per person for all registrants!

For more information about the event, please visit our event website at http://2myles4autism.weebly.com.

With much appreciation,

The 2myles4autism Team
