Dunn's Corners School

Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe

April 9, 2021

Good afternoon DCS!

It was awesome to see 100% of our distance learning students come into school this past Wednesday for the state assessment. They all grew so much!

The DL grades 3 and 4 students along with the grade 4 in person students did a fabulous job on the ELA portion of the assessment.

Starting the week of May 17th, the in person schedule will go to all five days per week through the end of the school year. Super exciting!

Remember that Monday, April 12th is an asynchronous learning day for students because staff are in professional development. Attendance counts through competing the assigned work.

On Friday, April 16th, Mr. Morrone and Ms. Lacey will be slimed because our students exceeded our goal for Pennies for Patients! Time TBD. It will be streamed live on Facebook and a Google Meet.

Finally, on behalf of our staff, thank you for all the goodies as part of the PTO stock the staff lounge!

Anyone considering travel is asked to review and abide by the state’s travel orders and is reminded that students who travel to states with greater than 5% positivity rates are expected to quarantine for fourteen days prior to returning to school. The list of these states is always current and available on the RIDOH website. Students who are required to quarantine will have distance learning options made available to them.

If you are intending to travel to a state with a greater than 5% positivity rate during Winter Recess, we request that you make your travel plans known to your building principal or school nurse in advance. Your school nurses can also answer any questions regarding quarantine requirements, asymptomatic testing availability and more.

***Westerly's guidance is superseding the state recommendations.

Attendance Update

Our RIDE data shows that 8.3%(24 students - in person/distance) are chronically absent. We are currently ranked 71 in the state! Come to school! The realistic goal is to have less than 5% chronically absent, but ultimately 0%. Chronically absent is defined as being out 10% of the days in school. This data impacts our STAR rating.

Please make sure you contact the main office if you change your contact information since returning the contact form or at any point you make a change.

We will be using #dcsanchors all over social media. Look for it on twitter, Facebook, and Instagram!

Have a safe and nice weekend!

Mr. Morrone, Proud Principal of DCS!
