What's New in Room 182

Mrs. Peters' 3rd Grade * May 27, 2016

Tackling tasks with teamwork and tenacity!

Please make time to read your student's Family Journal this weekend for their celebrations, accomplishments, and new learning from the week! It is so inspiring this time of year to see all of their growth, application, and teamwork!!

Mrs. Peters

Thank you, Mr. Lobben!

Mr. Lobben, our associate principal, surprised us today as the Mystery Reader! We learned many neat facts about him, and share a love for Dr. Seuss, too! We were excited to hear the story "The Sneetches"! Please be sure to ask your student what themes we can learn from the fun, rhyming tale... It's one of our new favorites!

Focus on the Curriculum

ELA

  • Biographies
I hope your third graders have told you all about the fascinating people they've been reading about and researching. We started this mini-unit by investigating what makes a biography and now they are busy writing their own! Next week we will add on presentations created on our iPads.. I cannot wait to share their hard work and discoveries with you!

  • Book Clubs

Book Clubs launched this week as students selected books, created group norms, dove into their new texts. i'm looking forward to concluding the year with this chance for them to apply everything they've learned this year!

Math

  • Chapter 10: Decimals
We will wrap up our explanation of decimals this week. Be sure to ask your third grader where they've spotted decimals in their everyday lives!
