Message from Mrs. Hartnett
As a reminder, Friday is an early dismissal day at 11:45 a.m. Winter break begins Monday, December 25th and we welcome students back to Kruse on Wednesday, January 10th. Enjoy this time with your loved ones!! Have a safe and happy break.
Spelling Bee
We are happy to announce our winners. Congratulations to Monica Jiang for her 1st place win and Samantha Llanos for her 2nd place win. They will represent Kruse at our district spelling bee in February.
Thank you to all our students who studied so hard and participated in the Bee, to the families who supported their spelling bee journeys, and to our officials, Mrs. Buchanan, Mrs. Hartnett, Mrs. Jelderks, and Ms. Stacey.
Well done, Bears!
Winter Parties
Winter parties will be held on Friday, December 22nd at 10:30 a.m. Party volunteers are coordinated through the classroom teachers. All party volunteers must have a background check cleared in order to participate. This is also true for any event during the day that families will be interacting with students.
Principal's Lunch
Congratulations to our Principal's Lunch winners. We enjoyed our lunch together last week. Way to go!
Cultural Luncheon
On Wednesday, December 20th, Kruse will hold its annual Cultural Luncheon. Students must have a permission slip on file to participate. This is a favorite and very delicious event!
Second Grade Holiday Sing
Our second graders did an amazing job on their holiday sing! They performed favorites such as Jingle Bells and new classics such as Perfect Snowy Day. We had a wonderful turn out of families to see this festive performance!
Winter Choir Concert
Our Kruse Choir's Winter Concert was a huge success. Our third, fourth, and fifth graders sang and danced their way through 8 holiday songs during an all school assembly and an evening performance for families. We are so proud of these 50 students for their dedication and showmanship!
Holiday Fun
Kruse students and staff enjoyed celebrating the holidays over the past few weeks. Fifth graders sent their loved ones "Warm Wishes". First graders enjoyed a polar express day with pajamas and the classic story. Staff was treated to the hot chocolate cart and popcorn from the PTO!
Cookie Dough Fundraiser
Our fifth graders are raising money to attend an exciting end of the year field trip! Please see below for information about our cookie dough fundraiser.

2023-2024 Breakfast and Lunch Service
Breakfast and lunch are served daily at school for those who wish to purchase them. The costs for each paid category are: Breakfast $1.50, and Lunch $3.75. We use a debit card system through Pushcoin. Funds can be added to your child’s card via a Pushcoin link available on our district website: www.district146.org
Breakfast will be available each morning for students using the debit card system. Students needing breakfast will go to the cafeteria to pick up their breakfast and then return to their classroom. Students will eat breakfast in their classrooms.
The student’s debit card is scanned and deducted $3.75 whenever a hot lunch is “purchased”. Debit card accounts can be opened or re-activated by paying online or writing a check to School District 146 marked with “debit card-student’s name” in the memo line.
Applications for free and/or reduced fees are available at our school office.
