Women's Rights and Discrimination

I Think That People Judge Other People Because....

Their parents didn't tell them not to

If their parents never taught them that it was wrong to judge other people. They wouldn't know not to Judge people based on the color of their skin or by how they look.

They are just Bullys

Last year, in our grade, there was a kid that thought he was being cool by making really racist jokes about someone and she saw them and was really hurt. He got in really big trouble for saying that stuff by the school and was humiliated. It wasn't the smartest decision that he ever made.

Discrimination in the World Today

Muslims

Muslims are now thought as of terrorists. Most muslims are Stereotyped as to being terrorists and a part of Isis. Many innocent people will die if they aren't allowed out of the country.

Women are Being Treated Differently Than Men Across the World

Pay Gap Between Men and Women

There are pretty much the same problems throughout the whole world including the pay gap which is probably the biggest and best example of how women are being treated differently than Men. Women should be making the same amount of money as the men in the workplace are.

Women are Less Likely to Get Credit in Group Projects

Women are less likely to get credit on group projects when they work with men. The men usually give themselves all of the credit and the women don't speak up for themselves. Even if the Woman did all of the work, the men still give themselves the credit on that project. "Women undersell themselves, and people undersell women," adds Rhodes.

Women Being Treated Different Than Men in the USA Currently

Women are Being Paid Less Than Men

Women in the same exact job as men are being paid 79 percent less than men. That is an enormous 21 percent difference in their pay. If women work harder than men why are they being paid less? There are so many men that aren't working hard and being lazy but making more than a very hardworking woman that is putting all of her effort into her job and doing it correctly. The pay gap has gotten much better since 1970 but in the past few years it has come to a screeching halt. The wage gap won't go away on its own and we need someone to stand up for what is right and diminish the pay gap all together.

The Pay Gap is worse for Colored Women Compared to White Women

The wage gap is worse for colored women in the work industry. Even today there is still discrimination against colored women. Why should a woman that just has a different skin color get paid less?

Discrimination in the United States Today

African American Discrimination

In the United states, there is still racial discrimination happening. Many people still discriminate against black kids and feel that they are different than them. It is definitely not as bad as it was in the 1900s but there is still some descrimination. Black people are more likely to be killed while getting arrested by police officers. Some police officers feel "In Danger" when they are arresting a Black guy. White people can be just as dangerous or even more dangerous than Black people. Also, the police keep shooting their guns even if then suspect is on the ground still.

Discrimination has Shaped the United States of America

Racial Inequality Shaping the United States of America

Racial inequality has shaped the United States of America in many ways. The founding fathers owned black slaves. The United States of America was founded on racism in many ways, slaves weren't allowed to do very much of anything except for working for their owners in the fields. There were nor rights for slaves.

Religious Discrimination is Shaping the United States Today

Not all Muslims are part of Isis! Most people think that any Muslim must be part of Isis and will be of danger to you. Donald Trump is a great example of this, he wants to ban Muslim Immigrants from coming over to the United States. I get that he is just trying to be safe but many completely innocent people will die over in Syria because of Isis. This is shaping how the world is today.

Women Fighting for Rights Today

Hillary Clinton

Hillary has been fighting for women's rights for a while but now fighting for women rights is on the top of her agenda. Hillary is Running for president this year. If Hillary becomes president, she stated that she would work to close the pay gap at work between men and women. Hillary will also work for paid family leave for women because no one should have to choose between taking care of a sick family member or going back to work right after having a baby. She will also be fighting to confront violence against women. Some reasons for this include that one in five women in a college in America have been sexually assaulted and twenty-two percent of women experience physical violence by their partner at some point in their lifetime. Hillary wants to promote women rights around the globe.

Malala Yousafzai

Malala fights for women's rights now and when she was a child she became an advocate for girls and their rights. When Malala was an advocate for girls the Taliban issued a death threat awards her. On October 29, 2012, Malala was shot by a gunman in the Taliban walking home from school. She survived and has continuously spoken out about women's and children's rights. She was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize in 2013 and in 2014 she was nominated again and won. She became the youngest person to be awarded a Nobel Peace Prize.
