Message from Principal Drew...
We encourage all parents of students in grades 3-12 to register for the Drugs Uncovered event being hosted at PCHS this Tuesday from 6:00-8:00. This program will give parents the opportunity to know more about the signs and habits of drug use in teens. This is an adults only event. If you would like to register to attend please use this link:
Parents we are also at the midway point of the first nine weeks. Progress reports will be going home on Wednesday of this week. Take time to discuss your child's progress in each class and let us know if we can help them be successful in any way.
This week at PCHS:
Monday - Teacher Workday (No School for Students), Soccer will play at Gates at 5:00, Board of Education meeting at 6:00
Tuesday - Drugs Uncovered Parent Night 6:00-8:00
Wednesday - Fall Sports Pictures, Progress Reports, Battle of the Books will meet in the media center from 3:05 - 4:00, Volleyball host Camden at 4:30, Soccer will host Martin County at 6:00
Thursday - FCA will meet in the gym at 7:30 AM, Cross Country at Gates 4:00, JV Volleyball hosts Edenton 4:30, Varsity Volleyball host NECP 6:00
Friday - Biology Check-in tests, Football will play at Washington County in Plymouth 7:00
Saturday - Varsity Volleyball will play at Bishop McGuinness starting at 9:00 AM

2024 UNITED STATE SENATE YOUTH PROGRAM & SCHOLARSHIP
Application Materials are now available for the United States Senate Youth Program (USSYP). The USSYP provides an education opportunity for juniors and seniors interested in pursuing college coursework in history or political science to spend a week in Washington D.C. meeting senators, cabinet members, supreme court justices, and officials from various federal agencies and the white house.
Two student winners will be selected to represent North Carolina. These two winners will each attend the Washington Week Program, March 2-March 9, 2024.
Deadline to apply is October 1, 2023

Governor's School
Any student interested in attending Governor's School should review this information and contact Mrs. Thomas in Student Services.
The ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) will be offered on the following dates during the 2023-2024 school year for 10th through 12th grade students:
October 11, 2023
January 24, 2024
March 27, 2024
Please see (or email) Mrs. Thomas in Student Services to sign up for one of these sessions.
Reasons to take the ASVAB:
- It is FREE!
- You need it for military entrance (although you do not have to enter the military if you take the test)
- It is a career assessment tool which helps identify which careers are best for you
- After taking the test, you will have access to a variety of excellent career and college search tools that are not available to other people

Career Center with Miss Gray...
Our college fair field trip is just around the corner! The field trip will take place on November 2nd during the third period. This exciting opportunity will allow students to meet with more than 40 colleges in one place. Remember that all field trip forms must be returned to Ms. Gray by October 1st.
Following the field trip, please mark your calendars for our Parent College Information Night on October 11th, from 6 to 7:00pm at Perquimans High School's Media Center. There, you can gain insights into the college application process, financial aid, and scholarships.
When financing college, remember to review scholarship applications early. If you are looking for more information attend our Parent College Information Night workshop for further assistance. We're here to support you in achieving your educational dreams!
