Weekly AESD Update

AESD Hosts Annual District Cafe

The Avondale Elementary School District hosted our annual District Cafe: A Day of Gratitude this week where community members gathered to connect, discover, appreciate and serve. AESD staff and community members reflected with gratitude on ALL of the incredible ways our work, talents and passions overlap. These align and connect to ensure our AESD students have their limitless future!!

Thank you to the Avondale-Goodyear Education Foundation and the LOVE Bus for welcoming our community with coffee and conversations - as well as to CHASSE Building Team for allowing us to SERVE our community through their annual Chasse-Giving event. Chasse provided 50 AESD families with all of the fixings for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, including a gift card to purchase a turkey or ham. The participants of our district cafe were able to assemble the boxes for distribution to ensure they were out before the holiday break.

We are grateful for our larger community who always come alongside AESD to support our community. We couldn’t do it without you!

Paraprofessionals Launch Their Students To Success

Paraprofessionals at Michael Anderson School are committed to each student. They work hard and dream big, right alongside their students. We are thankful for the support they provide on a daily to our classrooms. Thanks to our paraprofessionals, our students are able to branch out into smaller groups and have one-on-one time for questions.

CMSA Takes Flight

Indoor drones are flying high in the sky at Centerra Mirage STEM Academy. Students are gaining real-world skills by learning how to code and fly drones in their elective class! CMSA students provided a short demonstration and flew the drones at our AESD governing board meeting this week. This is one of the many ways that CMSA engages students with hands-on activities that help to develop critical thinking and problem solving skills. Future drone pilots in the making!

Project S.T.I.N.G. Is Fired Up

Desert Star was happy to have the Goodyear Fire Department come out to visit Project S.T.I.N.G. Our students had a wonderful time learning about the equipment that firefighters use and what a firefighter's job entails on a daily to help our community. We are thankful to the Goodyear Fire Department for engaging our students in activities that may spark their interest to become future firefighters someday!

Get Your Grub On

The Desert Thunder PTO goes above and beyond for our students. They hosted a junior high award breakfast, in recognition of the students' hard work. Parent and community involvement for our students is an integral part of the educational process. AESD can't thank the parents and community enough for their continued support. Thank you for working alongside us to ensure our students succeed!

Glow Run Boosterthon

Thank you to all of the sponsors in the Desert Star school community for making the Glow Run Boosterthon a great event for our kids. We had an impressive turnout and support group. A fun event that brought our staff, students and families together!
