A Note from the Principal....
Greetings!
Last week I mentioned that we were looking forward to digging deeper in to the pillars of being #StLukeStrong this year. For the next month, we will be focusing on the pillar of Integrity. In contemplating the importance of this pillar, Proverbs 4:25-27 stood out to me....
"Let Your eyes look straight ahead, fix your gaze directly before you. Make level paths for your feet and take only ways that are firm. Do not swerve to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil." ~Proverbs 4:25-27.
As the verse so beautifully puts it, we, as Catholic Christians, are charged each day with the task of avoiding temptation and modeling integrity in the choices we make, the words we use, and the actions we take. Integrity is at the core of what we do and how we live each day, and forms the foundation for other pillars. We demonstrate integrity when we truly live out our faith. Our students exercise academic integrity each day as they strive to do their best in school. Our students model integrity as they show commitment to the organizations they are involved with, both in and out of school.
This month, we will be talking with students about the importance of living with integrity here at school. We invite you to join us in talking with your children about the importance of integrity. Seek those teachable moments in their everyday lives to talk to them about integrity, to coach them through how to live with integrity, and (my personal favorite!) to be intentional in praising them when they are doing a great job of modeling integrity!
As Brene Brown says, "Here's what I think INTEGRITY is: It's choosing courage over comfort. Choosing what's right over what's fun, fast or easy. And practicing your values." So, St. Luke parents, let's work together to talk with our children about what integrity is! Let's help them find the strength to choose courage over comfort. Let's guide them in choosing what is right over what is fun, fast or easy. And, let's pray with and for them that they live each day through practicing our Catholic Values.
Blessings,
~Mrs. Kissel
