Board Business
- Board Member Appreciation: Dr. Boryszewski presented the BOE with gifts from the students. Children from all 3 schools wrote cards and notes thanking the BOE for their service and commitment. Dr. Boryszewski stated that the entire school community appreciates and values the Board and all that they do.
- Secretary Ewanio received Master Board member status and was presented her certificate.
- Triple I Conference: The conference is November 19-21 and all board members are registered and plan to attend. President Desecki shared that if any members are uncomfortable attending any of the sessions or events (due to COVID), they should let she and Dr. Boryszewski know.
Old Business Information
Washington School:
- Dr. Boryszewski shared that the contractors plan to turn over keys to the new building on February 25th, and she hopes to get students into their new school after spring break.
- They are looking at options to replace the glazed brick, a material that was not possible to obtain.
- Dr. Boryszewski is touring the Mayor and Village Board on December 2nd.
New Business Information
Pasquale Maranto, Business Manager, presented the Tentative 2021 Tax Levy.
New Business Action
The BOE approved the 2021 Audit:
- Crowe Horwath shared that District 81 received an "Unmodified Opinion," and no findings were discovered in the single audits of Title I and Child Nutrition programs. The District remains in the "Recognition" category given by The Illinois State Board of Education, which takes into consideration a district's cash, fund balances and expenses.
The BOE approved the Kennedy Courtyard and Curtain Wall Bid:
- DLA Architects shared that 6 bidders submitted a bid; all the numbers came in really close. Tandem was the lowest bidder, and DLA did an extensive review, and Tandem received positive reviews and recommendations.
- President Desecki confirmed the project will be paid with ESSER grant money.
- Member Downs asked when the projects will begin: DLA anticipates in the spring of 2022.
