Keeping Things In Perspective
During the busy seasons of our year, one of which we are currently experiencing, it is nearly impossible to not get caught up in the never-ending list of daily tasks and “firefighting” that comes with leading a school. Our day can quickly turn to hours of troubleshooting unforeseen problems that arise and planning for how to support those that need it most at that moment. During these times it is easy to not realize that our own tanks are running low -- because we are so focused on supporting those around us that we haven’t invested in our own well-being.
When tragedy strikes like what recently occurred with a family at Jeffries Elementary, things are shaken back into perspective for us. It is important to seek balance in our lives. To spend time with and be truly present with loved ones. To invest in our own well-being so that we can be the best version of ourselves for all that depend on us.
As somebody who is still relatively new to the district, I am still amazed by the group of leaders in our Elementary Squad. And it is heartwarming to see our entire team pitching in to support our Jeffries family during this difficult time. J and I both thank you for your leadership and your humanity in supporting those around you each day. Be sure to take time to be thankful for what we might sometimes take for granted -- and invest in yourself, too.
