Downloading Free Microsoft Office

All state school students from Prep to Year 12 can now download multiple free copies of the Microsoft Office 2013 Suite to their personal home and mobile computer equipment. Students who want the free software will need an active Managed Internet Service (MIS) login (This is their school user name and school email account (username@eq.edu.au) and password. Those who don't have these should contact their class teacher.

Please be patient while installing and activate it at home by opening Microsoft Word and using it before bringing it to school.

Insurance Questions

Computers are complex technical devices and they do break down and can be damaged, especially in the hands of children.

It is vital therefore to ensure a fast turnaround for repairs when the need arises. We highly recommend adding ADP (accidental damage protection) insurance and NBD (next business day) on-site warranty if possible. "Next Business Day Onsite service" refers to the technicians obligation to call you to schedule an appointment by the “Next Business Day”. You may also have the option of adding the device to your home and contents insurance policy but be sure that it covers the device 24/7 and while away from your home. At the very least, we recommend a return-to-store, 3 year warranty on any new technology purchase.

Office Works has an Extra Cover Option which may be an option worth looking at.

Extra Cover provides an extended warranty for up to 3 years, including the manufacturer’s warranty, on new items purchased at Officeworks such as:

  • Computers, laptops, tablets, monitors
  • Your Extra Cover policy will commence 12 months after the purchase or upon expiry of the original manufacturer's warranty, whichever occurs later.

Other stores offer similar insurances but take your time to make sure you are getting what you need.
