Principals Message
Dear Burbank Families,
Our students are progressing well in all grade levels. Although we see a great improvement in academic areas, we still have many more hurdles to cross before we achieve proficiency in English Language Arts and Math. I encourage you to continue looking for ways to engage your children in both of these areas.
Those parents that continue to join and attend our parent building blocks in the mornings, we thank you for your attendance and support. We are combining efforts with our after-school program to bring you a night of math games and ELA activities. If you are able to join on those days, you will not only be able to practice activities with your children but will be able to take home all of the materials you need. Be on the lookout for the announcements on Parent Square.
Our attendance went up to 95% yesterday. It was a great celebration on Valentine's Day and Picture Day. We would like to see this high percentage even on days that are not celebrations. When our students are here learning, they are here growing. They are going to be the future of Burbank and the surrounding area. We want to give them as many tools and education as possible so our community flourishes.
Many great things are always happening at Burbank. We are thrilled to share them with you.
Thank you,
Radhika Dinesh
Student Success
Incentivizing
By now everyone should no our Vice Principals voice as she is the one that greets you every morning on our "Burbank Elementary Wake-Up Call". We see some positive changes in our attendance and we hope to see more positive increases by the end of the month! To promote good attendance and to reach our attendance goal we will be giving away big prizes like a Nintendo Switch! So we encourage to make sure your student is here on time, present, and ready for the day!
Not only do we incentivize good attendance but we also use PBIS! PBIS stands for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports! Students who work hard in and out of class get a chance to earn PBIS points and they can use those points towards fun, educational items.
We also do Friday Prize Days where Administration pick random classes each hour to give a random prize to the class! We also do Funday Monday where administration brings out fun games to play early in the morning!
There is so much we do to incentivize great student behavior and incentivize parent participation! For parents we have bi-weekly meetings with treats, coffee, and prizes!
We also have meetings that involve parent input like our School Site Council and ELAC meetings! Our last ELAC meeting we had a great turn out and gave away free computers! So come to our meetings and see what we have prepared next for you!
