The Newest Craze - The Bitmoji Virtual Classroom
How do I make my own?
STEP 1: OPEN A BLANK GOOGLE SLIDE OR POWERPOINT
- If you want to create a Google Meet or PowerPoint slide for meetings, you can keep the default page dimensions and move onto Step 2.
- If you want to create a Google Classroom header, change the page dimensions to 1,000 x 250 pixels by going to File —> Page Setup in Google Slides or Design —> Page Setup in PowerPoint. (Just a warning though: When you upload your banner on Google Classroom, you’ll get this annoying dark overlay on your image. So just keep that in mind and try to make everything as bright as possible.)
STEP 2: COLLECT YOUR IMAGES
- Next step is to collect the images for your scene.
- To get your Bitmoji in Google Slides click the Bitmoji icon from your Chrome extension, select the Bitmoji you want, and drag and drop it onto the slide. To get your Bitmoji in PowerPoint, you’ll click on the Chrome extension icon, right-click on the Bitmoji you want, and save it as an image — then you can insert that image into PowerPoint as usual.
For the background, I searched Google for “white brick wall” and “wood floor” — then I just arranged them on the page in a way that looked semi-normal. You could also search for something like “wall floor” and grab an image that already combines the two.
STEP 3: CREATE YOUR SCENE
- Once you have a background and a few images, you can start creating your virtual scene.
- To layer an image below another, right-click and select Order —> Send to back on Google Slides or right-click —> Send to Back on PowerPoint.
- You can hyperlink images to make it interactive -> think hyperlinking book covers to book trailers!
STEP 4: DOWNLOAD AS IMAGE OR SHARE LINK!

Tips & Tricks for Using Bitmoji's in the Educational Setting
- How to save a bitmoji image – in the Chrome Extension, find the image you want to save. Right click and use the “save image as” option. Once you’ve saved it to your desktop, you can use it like any other image.
- Bitmoji blocked by your school? – If your district has blocked bitmojis, save the images in a Google Drive folder or paste them into Google Keep. That way they’ll be handy if you’re providing fun feedback to student work in Google Drive. The iOS and Android apps let you upload directly from the app to Google Photos, Google Drive and Google Keep. On your desktop, save the images to your desktop, then upload.
- Share directly from the mobile app – You can open the app on your iOS or Android device, select a Bitmoji and share it to Facebook, Twitter, and other services directly from the app.
- Share via the Bitmoji keyboard – The iOS and Android apps add a special keyboard that you can use to insert Bitmojis in certain apps like Facebook, Twitter, etc. Follow the instructions in the app settings to set up the keyboard. The keyboard should show up where your emoticons and gif options appear.
