Inquiry Night
An Invitation to Experience our Inquiry Learning
Purpose
As a way to keep parents and families informed about the learning that takes place within the class and Inquiry program, we open our doors to showcase the learning that is happening. These Inquiry Nights provide a platform for students to express their voice and choice. They have the opportunity to explain to their families any project or current unit of study. Because the learning process is continuous and non-linear, pieces of the students' work samples will range in in the stage that they are in, from completed work to a work-in-progress.
These nights also serve to inform families about the direction and progress of the Inquiry Program as a whole.
Schedule
We hold our Inquiry Nights once a marking period. Our target is the week that Progress Reports are sent out.
This year, those dates are the following:
November 13th- 6:00-7:00 pm
February 5th- 6:00-7:00 pm
April 23rd- 6:00-7:00 pm
*Dates/times are subject to change due to the evolving nature of education.
Format
The format of Inquiry Nights model our weekly Gatherings structure. We meet in the Gathering Room for an opening explanation or news updates for the program. Families are then invited to the classrooms to see evidence of the learning and to hear explanations from the students themselves. The end of the night will bring families back to the Gathering Room for critical feedback. A big component of learning is to reflect and grow from experiences. Critical feedback from the audience will allow us the opportunity to reflect and grow from parent feedback.
