Fire Prevention Week
The firefighters that will come to your house if you have a fire, and possibly have to save you, will come to our school to visit! This is a great presentation of how a fire fighter might look when he comes into your house to save you. He doesn't look "normal" but he's really just a firefighter dressed up in all of his protective gear. Nothing to be scared of there!
Our students will have the opportunity to see the fire truck, inside and out!
FIRE PREVENTION POSTER CONTEST
ALL POSTERS WILL BE PICKED UP AT SCHOOL OFFICES ON OCTOBER 17TH. NO LATE POSTERS WILL BE ACCEPTED.
YOU CAN PICK UP PAPER IN THE OFFICE FOR YOUR POSTER. ON THE BACK OF THE POSTER PAPER IS REQUIRED INFORMATION, THAT NEEDS TO BE FILLED OUT FOR THE CONTEST.

News from our Nurses
Look out for head lice
Head lice are insects that feed on human blood several times a day and live close to the human scalp.
Head lice are spread by direct contact with the hair of a person with lice. Personal hygiene or cleanliness in the home or school has nothing to do with getting head lice. Head lice is common in school aged children, so check your child(ren) for head lice often throughout the school year. If you find head lice, please let the school know. We have information and would be glad to answer any questions you have.
What do Lice look like?
Egg/Nit: Nits are lice eggs laid at the base of the hair near the scalp. Nits are firmly attached to the hair shaft, are oval-shaped and very small (about the size of a knot in thread). Nits often appear yellow or white.
Adult: The adult is about the size of a sesame seed, has six legs, and is tan to grayish-white in color.
Treatment is recommended for persons with head lice. All household members and other close contacts should be checked; those persons with head lice should be treated. Treatment includes shampooing with a lice killing shampoo and removal of nits. Make sure to follow the directions on the shampoo label.
Some cleaning is also recommended and should consist of:
Machine wash and dry clothing, bedding, and other items worn during the 2 days before treatment using hot water (130°) and the high heat drying cycle. Items that are not washable can be sealed in a plastic bag and stored for 2 weeks.
Soak combs and brushes in hot water (at least 130°F) for 5–10 minutes.
Vacuum the floor, furniture, and car seats.
Do not use lice sprays; they can be toxic if inhaled or absorbed through the skin.
