A Note from the FMS Administrative Team

Dear FMS Families,

We hope that the time away from school and work afforded everyone the opportunity to rest and relax as we head into the final two weeks of the first semester. December was a busy month at FMS, as our students have been working hard within the classroom in preparation for the end of the semester. Outside of the classroom setting, our FMS band students performed in a winter concert, our cheer and dance teams performed at a multitude of events, and our basketball teams finished their seasons (in fact, the girls' team was even undefeated)! We are honored to celebrate all of our students at FMS and are proud of their accomplishments.

We are looking forward to all that is to come in the new year! One change that you will notice as we head into January is a new friendly face as you enter FMS. At the December Board of Education meeting, Mrs. Heather Hoggatt was named as FMS's new attendance secretary. She is replacing Mrs. Kristi Rivet, who has accepted an administrative assistant position at Central Office. We wish Mrs. Rivet the best of luck in her new endeavors, and we look forward to welcoming Mrs. Hoggatt to the FMS office team!

Sincerely,

Dr. Laura Rowe-Holler, Principal

Mrs. Amber Houdei, Assistant Principal (Sixth Grade)

Mr. Kevin Kuehl, Assistant Principal (Seventh Grade)

Mr. Adam Bender, Assistant Principal (Eighth Grade)

WSD Belonging and Culture Family Survey

As part of the WSD’s ongoing efforts to meet the goals within the Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP), district surveys will be administered to students in grades K-12, families, and staff. The surveys are designed to solicit feedback about the sense of belonging created within each building as well as perspectives regarding building/department culture. Each school and department within the district will use this survey data to understand the current reality and to make improvements moving forward.

Families may begin taking the survey starting Jan. 4, by clicking here. The survey will remain open through Jan. 20.

The district windows for students to take the surveys are Jan. 30-Feb. 10 and May 1-19.

For more information regarding these surveys, including logistics about the administration of the surveys, a preview of the surveys, and information on how to opt-out, please check out our WSD Belonging and Culture Survey page.

Student Drop-Off/Pick-Up Reminder

We want to take this opportunity to remind families to please utilize the designated loop to drop-off and pick-up students. While we realize that the lines can sometimes be quite lengthy, this is the safest way in which to ensure our students are able to enter and exit vehicles without the risk of getting hit. Students are not to cross into the parking lot at any time during drop-off and pick-up. Please help us to ensure the safety of all students by utilizing our traffic loop. We greatly appreciate your help and patience.

FMS NJHS Blood Drive - Friday, January 13

FMS Artist(s) of the Month

FMS would like to congratulate eighth graders Aubrey McClelland and Alexys Scholle on being selected as the "Artists of the Month!" Their project, "Cinderella’s Shoe," won the most votes in the eighth-grade shoe design contest. Forty shoes were submitted to the contest. For their project, they used acrylic paint and cardboard. Aubrey and Alexys were inspired by photos they found online. The project took them about seven hours to build. Congratulations, Aubrey and Alexys!
