Middleborough Monday Memo 9.19.16

"Alone we can do so little. Together we can do so much."

Principal Advisory Council - 4th and 5th grades

Each principal has been asked to create a Principal Advisory Council. The group will be made up of 4th and 5th graders, and should represent our population (male/female, ethnicity, special ed, FARMS/non-FARMS, etc.). As a grade level, please identify 3 students to represent your grade level. Send the names of those students to Jamie by Wednesday, Sept. 21.

Good News Ambassador

If you are interested in serving as our Good News Ambassador, please let Jamie know ASAP.

214. GOOD NEWS AMBASSADOR SELECTION AND BREAKFAST Each principal is asked to identify a Good News Ambassadors (GNA) for his or her school for the 2016–2017 school year. The selected GNA is invited to participate in a kick-off breakfast on Wednesday, October 5, 2016, from 8:30 to 10 a.m. in the ballroom at Padonia Park Club, 12006 Jenifer Road, Cockeysville, 21030. GNAs should be staff members who have an interest in writing, photography, and/or social media and who are enthusiastic about their school. GNAs serve as volunteer liaisons from the school to the Department of Communications and Community Outreach and play a key role in getting good news about school, staff, and student achievements and activities to the community. At the breakfast, in addition to celebrating the contributions of GNAs, helpful tips will be shared regarding the promotion of our schools. The GNAs are to go to http://bit.ly/2crn76y to fill in their name as the GNA for their school and indicate whether they will be attending the breakfast. The deadline to register for the breakfast is Tuesday, September 20, 2016. Questions regarding this information should be directed to the following individual(s): Diana Spencer, Communications Officer 443-809-4243

Emergency Plan Updates

In your mailboxes on Monday, you will find the red/green cards that we discussed last Monday. Please write your last name in large letters on each card. These should be added to your Go Bag to be used during a drill.

Emergency Procedures and the updated plan will be distributed to you early next week.

Daily Schedule

If you haven't already done so, please upload your daily schedule to the shared drive )2016-2017/schedules/) and add to your grade level folder.

Duty Coverage

If you are assigned to a duty and will be out of the building or unavailable to assume the role, it is the expectation that you find a substitute. Please let the administration know who your substitute will be.

Facebook/Twitter

Please be sure to "like" our school FB page, and invite friends and family members to like it as well. We can build our community outreach simply through this!

If you have a Twitter account, please be sure to follow me @j_basignani and our school page @middleboroughes. I can retweet or tag you if i know that you have an account. :)

School Store

Packets will be placed in your mailbox on Tuesday to go home with every student. Please go to schoolstore.com/teacher and sign up so that you can select a prize based on the number of students that sign up. Please explain the program to your students so that we have good participation. In the past, many classroom teachers have received gift cards from parents to shop and purchase supplies for their rooms. When the prizes are awarded to students, the bags will be placed in your mailbox as well as gift cards that are received.

Please see Jackie with questions. She also has a 5 minute CD if anyone wants to play it for their class to see.

Weekly Bulletin

Please be sure to review the Weekly Bulletin each week. There may be actionable items in the bulletin that need to be addressed, and the expectation is that you access the information independently and follow-up as needed.

PTA Support

Please be sure to send in your $10 for PTA membership. We are striving for 100% staff membership! Thank you to Ruth, Laura, and Carol for serving as PTA representatives for this school year. Although these ladies are serving in the official role, we strongly encourage you to join us at PTA meetings. Our PTA is working hard to support us, and have asked that we join them to offer our input on upcoming events and decisions.
