The Sword and Shield

GCA Crusader News • Friday, January 14, 2022

GCA Family,

As we prepare take the day off Monday to celebrate the life and achievements of Martin Luther King Jr., I have been considering what he said about the purpose of education:

“We must remember that intelligence is not enough. Intelligence plus character–that is the goal of true education. The complete education gives one not only power of concentration, but worthy objectives upon which to concentrate.”

If our students learn all of the academic disciplines, but fail to recognize the correct ways to glorify God by making His creation a more fit place for human achievement and righteousness, then that education is incomplete. I hope that we will take every opportunity to show our children the path the God intends and how we can be involved in His plan to redeem all of creation.
