Tech Lesson Idea!
Amy Moler-1st Grade
Standard: Know and use various text features to locate key facts or information in a text
Students used the app Pixie to create a book that had specific text features they found while reading
How did they do it?
- Students used non-fiction books to find text features such as (glossary, heading, index) and took pictures of these text features using their iPad.
- Students then put them on different pages in a book they made in Pixie and labeled the text feature they found.
- Students will eventually add audio over their book in Pixie to add more detail about their text features!
Tech Tool of the Week!
Movie Maker
Why Movie Maker?
- It's a tool that allows students to create videos by using their webcams on their laptops
- Movie Maker makes it easy to save videos students make and send them to the teacher
- Students can also get creative with Movie Maker by adding images, choosing a theme, and adding audio to the videos
