Spring Hill ISD
District Newsletter - August 2022
A Message From the Superintendent
“It takes a village to raise a child.” This proverb expresses the sentiment we live by in the world of education.
When the Texas Education Agency released accountability ratings, we at Spring Hill ISD received exciting news. The district earned an “A” rating from TEA. An “A” rating is the top honor awarded to districts by the Agency for state accountability. Additionally, SHISD received a Distinction Designation for Postsecondary Readiness signifying that our graduates are prepared for life beyond high school. We have joyfully celebrated this news!
I attribute the district’s “A” rating to many factors, including the thoughts stated below.
A group of totally dedicated teachers and staff members worked diligently to complete the following strategies with the guidance and support of campus leadership:
Diagnose individual student needs
Identify students’ strengths and areas for growth
Formulate plans to improve student achievement
Implement these plans to ensure academic success for all students.
Businessman Peter Drucker once said, “All grand strategies eventually deteriorate into work.” Spring HIll ISD is an “A” rated district because the teachers, staff, and leadership understand this quote. We plan grand strategies for improving student achievement, and then we roll up our sleeves and go to work implementing the grand plan. We have an outstanding team of educators!
Given all of our commitment, dedication, determination, and hard work, SHISD recognizes we cannot accomplish high levels of achievement and accountability honors alone. It takes students working to be their best every day, parent support throughout the year, and our educational community working together as a team to ensure student learning and growth.
We are very proud of our “A” rating and the academic accomplishments of students and teachers in Spring Hill ISD.We are equally proud to be working on the same team with supportive parents and community members. After all, “It takes a village to raise a child.”
I am looking forward to the 2022-23 school year ~ new challenges, new opportunities, new accomplishments. #PantherProud
Sincerely,
Penny Fleet
Final note: How about those Panthers!! Grit and determination were on full display at the KYKX game of the week last night at Panther Stadium as the Spring Hill varsity football team earned the win over the Sabine Cardinals 44-34. Congratulations to our coaches and players on a hard fought victory ~ excellent job of representing the Blue & White! #PantherProud

The fully stocked book vending machine was donated by Greater Longview United Way as part of their Read to Succeed initiative. In addition, Wellness Pointe donated $1,000 a year for five years to purchase books to stock the machine.
"Spring Hill Intermediate is honored to be chosen as one of four campuses in the Longview area to receive a book machine," said Intermediate Principal Dana Robertson.
Student Athletes Recognized at Earn the Right To Win Dinner
Thirty-one Spring Hill High School student-athletes were celebrated earlier this month at Panther Athletics’ Earn The Right To Win dinner. These athletes met the Summer Strength and Speed workout goals.
“Panthers believe that championships are earned before they are won,” said Athletic Director Shawn Copeland. “This past summer we provided all athletes in grades 7-12 the opportunity to improve their athletic ability and for most sports, skills specific training. At the Earn The Right To Win dinner we recognized the High School athletes who attended approximately six weeks of the summer.”
In addition, Varsity athletes who attended approximately eight weeks of the summer program were presented with an Earn The Right To Win patch for their letter jackets.
“We already have dates for next summer planned,” said Copeland. “We have also incorporated sport practice time into the workouts.”
