The IDEA Power Grid

Plug In & (em)Power Tomorrow's Innovators

Happy Holidays

We hope your Thanksgiving was filled with food, friends, family and fun! The IDEA family had their own Thanksgiving potluck before the vacation to show our appreciation for our amazing teachers and staff who make IDEA such a fantastic school.

In honor of GivingTuesday, we invite you to read more about the Mentor Program at IDEA and consider giving 2 hours of your time - every month - beginning in January of 2016 to support a student's growth.

Become a Mentor at IDEA

While our teachers work to ensure that students master content at the level and pace that works best for them, we are looking for mentors willing to pledge 2 hours a month to empowering students to use knowledge they gain in the classroom to become articulate communicators, innovative thinkers, and professional collaborators.

As an IDEA mentor, you are both a cheerleader and a coach who helps a student develop the self-efficacy he or she needs to become an agent of change in their own lives and in their communities.

Field Trip to the Perot Museum

On Tuesday, November 10th students and staff explored the exhibit halls and classrooms of the Perot Museum of Nature and Science. Students applied what they've been learning in Physics about Newton's laws of motion and energy in the Amusement Park Physics lab. They also had the opportunity to race T-rex in the Sports Hall, conduct experiments in the Biol Lab, and build in the Texas Instruments Engineering and Innovation Hall.

Open House & Fannin Centennial Celebration

Tuesday, Jan. 26th, 6pm

4800 Ross Avenue

Dallas, TX

This past month, we invited Dallas ISD middle school students to visit IDEA, tour classrooms, meet our teachers, and learn more about Personalized Learning. Our team will be visiting middle schools throughout Dallas in January to talk about what it means to be a student at IDEA - from Personalized Learning to internships - and answer any questions future students might have.

Students interested in joining the IDEA family for the 2016-2017 school year will be able to apply beginning January 6th, 2016.

We invite you and your family to join us for our second Open House on Tuesday, January 26th from 6 to 7 pm. We are not only welcoming middle school students and their families, but also community members and former Fannin Elementary staff as we celebrate the 100 year anniversary of the Fannin Elementary building.

RSVPs are enabled for this event.
