CMS Distance Learning Template Link: CMS e-Learning Unit Template
This template provide a ‘thinking’ framework to support your planning - focusing on the CORE standards and ESSENTIAL understandings that will lead to student mastery. Over the next two weeks, teachers will develop one full unit (2-3 weeks in length) within the e-Learning and PowerSchool templates, with corresponding lessons, for implementation in August.

PowerSchool Template: To assist students and parents with finding needed information in the fall, we are asking everyone at the secondary level to use the same PowerSchool template for distance learning. See info here: Sample PowerSchool Page Instructions.
- Please first take a look at the video linked on that page (there’s a script too in case you want to read it) and then we will be happy to assist you when you hit a barrier to successfully working with the template. If you are unable to come to campus to close up your classroom and check out, please contact me to discuss alternate arrangements.

Teacher’s aide (TA): If you are interested in having a teacher’s aide for next school year, please send the following link to the student you would like to invite: REMINDER: TA positions are for 8th graders, only. If you have a 7th grader that has expressed interest, please notify Paulina and me prior to inviting them as your TA.
Teacher’s Aide Invitation Letter. You may use the script below when sending the letter to the student.
I would like to invite you to be my teacher’s aide for next school year! Being a TA provides a behind the scenes work-experience opportunity in my CMS classroom and it is a privilege sought after by many students but available to a limited few. As a TA, you will perform a variety of duties such as: organizing materials, supporting classroom activities, and much more. (add any information you’d like )
TAs must have a good work ethic, are expected to demonstrate the 8 Keys of Excellence, and maintain confidentiality as they may see or hear the private information.
· Accepting assignments with a positive attitude – Commitment
· Being reliable to work without being supervised - Integrity
· Following through when given a task – Ownership
· Taking initiative to do tasks without being asked – This Is It
By accepting this TA position, this will become your elective choice for the school year. You will be graded on a pass/fail basis, but you will receive a grade for citizenship. TA positions are not guaranteed. You will find out if you are a teacher's aide when you receive your schedule in August.
If you are interested, please review and complete this form with your parent/guardian by June 1st.
Jeronimo Banos created the unofficial logo for the Warlords of Japan: Covid-19 edition!
Ryan Nanoff made a shield out of scrap wood that shows the rising sun of Japan.
Sabine Clemons created a helmet, mask, and flag to represent her clan. She recently moved here from Japan, so I think she has really enjoyed this assignment.
CATCH THE LEARNING WAVE!!!
Kathy sends her well wishes to her students by reading them her favorite end of year story: Ms. Cotten's Last Day of School Message
Linda reached out to Roger Emerson who wrote the song "We Honor You" in recognition of the men and women that serve our country. She asked if her students may write lyrics to honor the Covid-19 essential workers, and he agreed. 6th grader, Danny Vinegrad's lyrics were selected, and the CMS choir will perform this new rendition in the future.
From the doctors in the clinics, to the staff in the grocery store.
From the brave postal worker we see walk from door-to-door.
They risk their lives and save our souls- come home with masks and scarves.
This is the day we honor you, the privilege is ours.
We do our part every day but yours is so much more.
The courage we know it takes to defeat this invisible war.
You do your best to help us get through these crazy times.
And to all who protect our nation proud, this might just be their prime.
