Message from the Principal / Mensaje de la directora
Thank you for a wonderful start to the 22/23 school year!
I have spent my days this week surrounded by our wonderful students playing on the playground, eating in the lunchroom, and actively engaged in learning in their classrooms. Our staff and students are excited to welcome our PreK students to campus on Monday, 8/29/22!
Thank you for your participation in Back to School Night. I especially appreciated the opportunity to spend a few minutes with those of you who attended my brief presentation before or after visiting your child's classroom. I have included a link to my presentation in this newsletter in case you were unable to attend and would like to review the content of my presentation.
As I mentioned in my presentation last night, my staff and I are committed to this year's theme "The Ascent" and have collectively agreed upon three action steps:
Weekly Commitments/Affirmations
Student-Centered Decisions
Celebrating Daily Wins
Thank you ahead of time for partnering with us in our efforts!
Kim Howe, Principal

Compromisos/afirmaciones semanales
Decisiones centradas en el estudiante
Celebrando las victorias diarias

Traffic Tips - Pick Up & Drop Off Reminders / Recordatorios para el tráfico
DROP OFF:
- Drop off students in the car lane back by cafeteria doors. If you plan to get out and help your child or want to walk them, kindly park in the church parking lot and walk them across the street.
- Parents are not to walk their child to the classroom.
- If you are using the car valet, please have your child(ren) on the passenger side of the car so they can get out safely on the sidewalk and do not allow your child to exit the car on the driver's side.
- Please pull as far forward as possible in the car lane before allowing children to exit. It helps keep the line moving.
- Please do NOT drop off your child in the back staff parking lot, by the bus pickup/drop off, or down the street by the 7 eleven or farther down from the school on either side of the road. This is for their safety and the safety of all students.
Where do kids go when they are dropped off?
Bus - When students are dropped off in the morning, they need to enter the school through the front door of the building. They then should exit the back door by the restrooms to the playground where they will be in their grade level zone.
Cars -
Any student in grades 1 - 5 dropped off by car in the morning must enter through the cafeteria door and proceed immediately through the to the outside door to the playground.
Duck Tape Wallets / Billeteras hechas de cinta adhesiva
Fifth grade students in Ms. Cohn’s Class were all smiles while making their duck tape wallets. They earn classroom dollars for making good choices, and now have a safe place to keep their money! The students will ultimately use the money to purchase goods at Makers Market where students come up with creative goods and services to sell to each other.
