The District 41 community is welcome to attend “5 things Every D41 Parent Should Know about our Inclusive Practices” presented by international inclusion expert Dr. Julie Causton on March 4, 6:30 p.m. at the District 41 Central Services Office, 793 N. Main Street in Glen Ellyn.

Dr. Causton has provided professional development and community engagement in District 41 for the past two years. This event will provide an opportunity for the community to engage in a discussion about how we have embraced inclusion in District 41. We will talk about the specific inclusive practices we strive to employ every day in our schools.

School Perceptions Parent Survey

Please take the time to respond to a survey emailed to parents by School Perceptions. School Perceptions is an independent educational research firm that has conducted these surveys for District 41 every other year since 2014. Having a third party conduct the survey ensures that all responses are kept confidential.

The survey will be open from February 25 through March 16 at 5 p.m. To view the results from the survey conducted in 2018, click here.

Thank you!

Substitute Spotlight - Leah King

The substitute spotlight is a monthly recognition program that showcases one of our many great substitutes. The honored substitute is nominated by a staff member within the district and then randomly chosen to be featured in the spotlight each month. This month we celebrate Leah King. One nominator shared that “Leah King can always be counted on to follow the teacher's plans, and to adapt them as necessary. I love when she is a sub in one of my co-teaching rooms because I know that she will do her job very well so that I can continue with my normal co-teaching duties and monitor the students on my caseload!”

How long have you subbed for District 41?
Almost 4 years
What attracted you to become a substitute at Glen Ellyn School District 41?
I was a middle school teacher in Elmhurst. I find it a challenging and fascinating age group. My 2 children attend/attended Hadley and knew that I would be working with good people.
What do you enjoy most about substituting in our district?
I think the secret to staying young is being around children. I find the creativity of the children to be inspiring and I really enjoy being a part of it.
What or who inspires you?
I would have to say my kids. I am constantly amazed by what they know at their age because of their great education at Hadley. I would also have to say the students. To see them grow is is really inspiring.
What are some of your hobbies/interests outside of substituting?
I love reading, traveling and I enjoy cooking. I love the people who work here. The staff is so friendly. The teachers are on their A game. It is truly a pleasure to work here.
