Mission Statement
Put these before you as we StandOUT Together this year.
I will add quotes and "ah ha" moments we discover together throughout the year here to help us keep our focus on positivity and good.
Put before you giving freely and helping others .... A few words from Coach John Wooden.
Oh, the great joy there is in helping others, perhaps the greatest joy! You cannot have a perfect day without helping others with no thought of getting something in return. When we are helping others with the thought of getting something back, it's not the same at all. Sharing and giving of yourself is joyous. James Russell Lowell wrote: It's not what we give but what we share, For the gift without the giver is bare. Who gives of himself of his alms feeds three, Himself, his hungering neighbor, and me. The basic precept of all the great religions is the Golden Rule: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Simply stated it means, "Help others." Jesus said, "It is more blessed to give than to receive." We say those words, but how often do we really believe them? They are always true. You can never acquire happiness without giving of yourself to someone else without expectation of getting something back. When it comes to giving, I remind myself what Ralph Waldo Emerson said: "Rings and jewels are not gifts, but apologies for gifts. The only true gift is a portion of thyself." - Coach John Wooden, pg 10-11

There are so many things that are out of our control right now. BUT one thing that is in our control is our reactions to the uncontrollable and unknown. We talked about putting before us what we want to expand and HELPING is something we can all do and something that we for sure want to expand throughout our building. Our building is full of helpers and I have seen you all helping out in so many ways. Let's keep that in our focus as we continue to standOUT together. When things feel out of control look for the helpers and be helpers.
Focus this week on helping others, asking for help, and letting others help you!

Expectations for when a student has to quarantine ......
During the days of instruction that the child is out, you will need to video your instruction and upload assignments in digital format through Google classroom for them to complete. This cannot be a worksheet uploaded for the parent to print. It has to be all digital. This is all new so feel free to ask me for clarification. You can video in one of two ways, with a chromebook or webcam.
I have visited with several teachers and it seems that everyone believes that screencastify would be the easiest way to video and upload.
Remember, Crymes, Fett, and Uekman can help you with changing over assignments to digital format.
Remember, these students will be returning to you so think about what do you need them to know and be able to do when they return.
You will still count these students absent.
Please ask if you need help!
