Bringing You the Latest News From BKD

A special thank you to those who attended our 'Give Your Love' event!

We would like to thank everyone who joined us at our 'Give Your Love' event featuring world-renowned Chef John Besh! With over 300 in attendance, the event was brimming with delicious food, drinks and activities. From meeting John Besh to eating award-winning dishes, guests enjoyed the beautifully decorated Kent Denver Dining Hall as it was transformed into an incredible party for a great cause!

After enjoying exquisite creole food, Breakthrough supporters were introduced to the program, which featured new Executive Director, Sarah Dutcher and the student speaker Elias Tewolde. Unbelievable support & love for Breakthrough filled the room, and Kent Denver's own Quincy Avenue Rhthym Band turned it up for a dance party to end the night.

Thank you to all who attended our event, and to those who could not be there, but who gave their support in other ways, you help make Breakthroughs possible every day!

Students Hit the Ground Running at Business Themed Saturday School

On March 5th, Breakthrough hosted it's second business themed Saturday School, which featured an activity that allowed students to form business plans, and pitch them to a panel of judges. We simulated a "Shark Tank," taken from the popular tv show, which is based on reputable business owners investing in different ideas. It proved to be a successful day, as over 100 students practiced formulating business plans, pitching ideas and working on persuasive speaking.
