Runnin' WJ Ranch Horseshoe Review

Merry Christmas from Runnin' WJ Ranch!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas at Runnin' WJ Ranch and for this we are excited and grateful!

Christmas is a happy time at the Ranch. We are able to give brand new shoes to our students, thanks to a partnership with local ministry, Laces of Grace, and new fleece jackets thanks to a partnership with Old Navy Texarkana!

This year, Texarkana LifeWay Christian Store is collecting plush moose for our students throughout the holiday season! Each of our students will have one of these soft and cuddly stuffed animals bearing the message, "Jesus Loves Me!"

We are blessed to have the opportunity to love our students through these partnerships and look forward to sharing images of this special exchange in next month's "Horseshoe Review!"

Gone Shopping!

What's the Christmas season without a trip to the grocery store for all those holiday needs?

Our students are "shopping" this week in our grocery store game! Each student is given a list and with the help of their volunteers, selects those items from our "stores" to place in their shopping bags.

This activity is not only a lot of fun for our students and volunteers, but builds balance, cognitive, reading and social skills.

Season of Giving

We are very blessed by generous individuals and organizations who invest in our ministry year after year.

Runnin' WJ Ranch recently received a grant from IP Giving. We will use the grant for a special animal carving by our friends, Tom and Wendy Zimmer of Oklahoma Chainsaw Carving for our new inclusive playground!

CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System recently became Horse Champion to our equine therapist, Frankie! Frankie and all of us at the Ranch are thankful for their pledge and investment in our ministry.

The Bobbie A. Atkinson Foundation donated the funds for a handicap accessible swing for our inclusive playground.

Recently, Raising Cane's of Texarkana presented Runnin' WJ Ranch with a check collected by customers through a donation drive as well as their employees' service day at the Ranch. We are grateful to this brand new restaurant in our community for giving back and blessing us!

A very special lady was recently introduced to us and greatly blessed the Ranch by sponsoring a child. She wanted her gift to honor dear friends, Andi and William Kirby of Texarkana.

Andi and William recently came to visit the Ranch, extremely humbled and honored by Dolly's gift. They enjoyed seeing the Ranch for the first time. William grew up in a home right down the road, so is very familiar with our location!

We thank Dolly for blessing the Ranch and blessing the Kirbys. We are grateful our Ranch family continues to grow!

Become a "Horse Champion" or a "Child Hero" this Christmas!

At the Ranch, we have a herd of 22 horses that need extra special tender, love and care! To provide for the needs of our horses every year, the cost per horse is $1,200, or $100 a month.

Our Horse Champions receive a 5 x 7 picture of their horse along with "fun facts" about their equine therapist. Their name will also be listed on their horse's picture by his or her stall.

We still have 12 horses just waiting for a special "champion!" Imagine how fun it would be for your grandchildren or children to come visit "their horse," only to learn how special their animal friend is to a child with special needs!

Also, eighty percent of our students come from families living near or below the poverty level. We discount our services to serve as many schools and families as possible, but still provide scholarship funding.

To provide the gift of one year of therapeutic riding for a child with special needs, the cost is $2,720 a year or $227 a month. If your family chooses to sponsor a child, we will send a picture of one of our students to place in your home, so you will know just how special your gift is to the life of a child!

For more information on becoming a "horse champion" or a "child hero" this Christmas, call today at (903) 838-3223!
