CARE WEEK

Care Week, Cancer Awareness Recognition Education, is THIS WEEK, Monday, Jan. 25th – Friday, Jan. 29th. It is a week dedicated to raising awareness for less recognized cancers.

Cheer packets will be available in the Front Office (Fishbowl) starting Monday, Feb. 1st and are DUE to the Fishbowl by Friday, March 4th, NO LATER THAN 4:15pm. Late packets will not be accepted unless previous arrangements have been made with the PSHS Cheer Coaches.

VINES BAND SPAGHETTI SUPPER

The PSHS PanCats and Jazz Band will be performing at the Vines Band Spaghetti Supper on Saturday, Jan. 30th at Vines High School. Bands from Haggard, Wilson and Vines will also be performing. MR. PLANO

Please join us for the 17th Annual MR. PLANO on Saturday, Feb. 13th at 7pm in the PSHS Theatre. Tickets will be on sale starting Monday, Feb. 8th – Friday, Feb. 12th in the Cafeteria during both lunches. Tickets are $7 in advance and $10 at the door. This event has sold out almost every year, so purchase tickets early!!!

GRADUATION CAP & GOWN ORDERS

If you have not already done so, please visit www.texasgradshop.com to order cap and gown and announcements. You can NO LONGER order the cap and gown at www.Jostens.com. For delivery in late March at PSHS, your order needs to be submitted NO LATER than Tuesday, March 1st. This will also ensure that your size will be available.

PROM 2016!

Tickets are NOW on sale on-line on Parent Portal https://parentviewer.pisd.edu/ until Friday, March 4th. The cost is $25 each or 2 for $50. Only seniors may purchase tickets. Limit is two per student. PSHS Prom will be Saturday, April 30th at Southfork Ranch from 8:30pm - 12:30am.

ST. ANDREW’S PROM CLOSET

The United Methodist Women of St. Andrew UMC, Plano are hosting a Prom Closet for young ladies to shop for that special event. There are dresses in all sizes and colors, as well as shoes, handbags and jewelry. The event has everything needed to complete the "total look" for the evening.


Shopping days are:

Tuesday, March 1st: 4 - 8pm

Wednesday, March 2nd: 4 - 8pm

Thursday, March 3rd: 4 - 8pm

Saturday, March 5th: 9am - 12pm


Shopping will take place at the church - 1401 Mira Vista side of the church (Plano Parkway and Mira Vista), in the Smith Worship Center. Park in the east parking lot along Mira Vista and follow the Prom Closet directional signs. This event is a service of the UMW and is provided at no cost. After a great weekend of Regional DECA Competitions, we have 20 winners out of 24 competitors. Here they are in alphabetical order by last name.

Texas Junior Science Engineering and Humanities Symposium

Our students competed at the Texas Junior Science Engineering and Humanities Symposium this past week. There are 8 categories, and Plano students took five of the first places. Please congratulate:

In addition, the top two winners are invited to present their research at the National Symposium in Dayton, Ohio later this year where they will compete scholarships. Please help congratulate the top two winners:


1st place: Sara McFearin from PSHS with her research “Erasing the Erasures: Optimizing the Capacity of Packet Networks”

2nd place: Vishal Rajesh from PSHS with his research “Mathematical Fire Fighting: Combining Fire with Delaunay Triangulation and Longitudinal Reversible Cellular Automata”

Alex Spiride also earned a trip to nationals.


Finally, a teacher award is presented to a teacher who contributes to student participation in scientific research. Please congratulate Neil Milburn, PWSH.

Texas Educational Theatre Association’s TheatreFest this weekend

At the Texas Educational Theatre Association’s TheatreFest this weekend, our students will perform the opening number for the TETA Educator Awards Ceremony. These students are Kenzie White, Mira Are, Sydney Hamil, Jessica Ehling, and Peyton Kerr. Please take a moment to congratulate these ladies!


Additionally, ten of our students have been invited to represent excellence in Texas’ educational musical theatre. In a production number combining Broadway cast members from Wicked, Matilda, and Fiddler on the Roof, these students will perform “When I Grow Up” with the Broadway cast of Matilda! On Monday, our students – along with students from Keller and Lewisville— auditioned for solos and rehearsed with Matilda’s Music Director, Steven Freeman. Nathan Benson, Payton Mayfield, and Alexa Sananikone received call-backs for solos in the number, and Alexa was awarded the solo—which she will sing alongside “Matilda”! Students representing PSHS Theatre in this production are Nathan Benson, Erik Hamilton, Tanner Lewis, Mitchell Davis, Payton Mayfield, Peyton Kerr, Sydney Hamil, Katey Miller, Rachel Katz, and Alexa Sananikone. Please give these students a “Congratulations!” when you see them!

Please give all of the students listed above a “Break a leg!”
