ACURILEAN INFORMATION LITERACY & RESEARCH AND PUBLICATIONS
CALL FOR NOMINATIONS

ACURIL announces the Excellence of Information Professionals Awards in Information Literacy and Research and Publications in order stimulate and stand out the highest performance of information professionals in the Caribbean, members of the organization.
The prestige of the ACURIL Awards Program rests upon its members. ACURIL urges you to take some time to reflect on the accomplishments of your colleagues and actively participate in this program. To celebrate, join us nominating a colleague and be part of the ACURILEAN Evening of Awards on the Red Carpet Evening.
A. DESCRIPTION, NATURE, CRITERIA, GUIDELINES
The Excellence of Information Professionals in Information Literacy, and Research and Publications Awards are bestowed in order to recognize and honor the individual commitment, quality in performance, and outstanding achievement of an information professional (librarian, archivist, documentalist, etc.), member of ACURIL.
2. NATURE OF THE AWARD. A plaque and citation.
3. CRITERIA, GUIDELINES, RULES for Information Literacy; and Research and Publications.
3.1 CRITERIA. Nominations from the three linguistic areas of ACURIL (English, French, Spanish) and Dutch will be accepted. Applicants for the particular selected award must meet the following criteria:
3. 1.1 Only information specialists belonging to ACURIL member institutions or ACURIL personal members qualify.
3.1.2 If no application meets the selection criteria appropriately, the Awards Committee is not obligated to present an award.
3.1.3 Nominee must currently be working as an information professional in any type of information unit or self employed doing information work.
3.2.1 Nominations must be submitted by two (2) full-fledged ACURIL members, in writing (by air mail: Federal Express/UPS/DHL or e-mail) TO: ACURIL AWARDS 2008, Executive Secretariat c/o P.O. Box 21906, UPR Station, San Juan, P.R. 00931-1906, or email@example.com .
3.2.2 Documentation must contain the following elements identified in Sections A and B.
Application Cover Sheet (Must be typed, using word processor, with Microsoft word; Font: Times New Roman; Point:12 )
-Name of the Category
-Name of the Nominee
-Local Address (City, Country, Zip code)
-Telephone ; Fax
-e-mail ; Webpage, if any.
-Names of Two (2) ACURIL Members submitting the nomination
-Institutions/Local Addresses of both (City, Country, Zip code)
-Telephones ; Faxes ; e-mails
Section B. Description. Please do not exceed 10 total pages, double space, typed in at least 12 point type, Microsoft word, with the following elements:
1. A brief description of the candidate's significant professional achievements and an assessment of the candidate's potential leadership and continuing excellence.
Include specific comments on the following:
1.1 Accomplishments in Information Work (libraries, information and documentation centers, archives, museums, etc.).
1.2 Impact of Work. Identify and describe the effect of the nominee's work on her/his institution and the extent of its influence beyond.
1.3 Service to the Profession. Describe the nominee's service to the profession and professional associations and evidence of his or her professional leadership role.
1.4 Visibility and Recognition of Work. Identify and describe the extent to which colleagues, administration and information clientele recognize the nominee's achievements.
1.5 Major Current Undertakings. Describe work and other activities in which the nominee is currently engaged which indicate continued career growth and significant contribution.
Section 3. Appendices. Include:
1. A current curriculum vitae (not more than 3 pages)
2. Any further information which may assist the Jury in the evaluation of the nomination and the selection of the recipient.
B. NOMINATION FORM for EXCELLENCE OF INFORMATION PROFESSIONALS IN Information Literacy; and/or Research and Publications
