C.I.T.Y. News
February 2022
We Love our C.I.T.Y.
This is the 2nd year we are hosting this community-wide initiative as way for ALL children in therapy to be acknowledged and celebrated. We have created different ways for families, professionals, and community members to participate, and we invite you to join in the fun.
Here are 4 easy ways to participate!
We would love to see photos of you wearing your buttons, playing along during our at-home, family fun classes, or displaying your flyers (downloadable here)--the more creative, the better! Tag us @cityofsupport and/or use the hashtag #weloveourcity.
For example, this café in Arlington Heights, Coco and Blu, is not only displaying our flyer and sharing our information, but they have offered to sell some of our Valentine's DIY Card Kits through Feb. 14th AND make a donation for every signature rose cardamom latte sold during the month of February. Let's visit these supportive businesses, encourage their participation, and have a great time giving these children and their families the recognition they deserve during the month of February: We Love our C.I.T.Y!

2nd Weekend Playdates: Feb 12-13th
Our Local Leaders are hosting family playdates in different areas around the city on the 2nd weekend of each month! This is the perfect way to meet other families in your neighborhood who also have children in therapy. They are always offered at NO CHARGE for families; however, we ask that you are mindful of your RSVP. If you need to cancel, please reach out to the Local Leader in your region, so we can accommodate another guest on the waitlist.
This month, you can join us at:
North Suburbs: Saturday, Feb. 12th from 9:00-10:00 at Lindenhurst's PlayTyme Gym! A RSVP is required. due to limited space. Please direct any questions to this region's Local Leader, Sarah Rosten: sarahr@pediatricinteractions.com.
McHenry Region: Sunday, Feb. 13th from 2:00-3:00 at Johnsburg's Fire House Gym! A RSVP is required due to limited space. Please direct any questions to this region's Local Leader, Michelle Piech: piechmichelle@gmail.com.

V.I.P. Program--Spring 2022
This 10-hour, completely-remote, and primarily self-paced course has been designed for "parents to teach the professionals." Get a rare opportunity to hear parents' perspectives on therapy, and learn how to apply them when working with children and their families.
C.I.T.Y. Close-Up: Meet Michaela
Her mom says:
"What can I say about my daughter Michaela? I think she is the greatest daughter I could ever have! She holds such a special place in my heart - she is motivation for me to be a better person and to be the best mother for her. Life has not been easy for her, but even as a preemie baby she has always melted hearts. She is sweet, joyful, charismatic, relentless and strong. She may not understand the challenges life has thrown at her, but she conquers them; she thrives and all while being a sweetheart. I am in awe of her strength and her joy. In her short 7 years she has undergone more than a dozen brain surgeries, she has spent weeks and even months hospitalized. Most recently I celebrate her for being so successful in her medical diet Modified Atkins for the treatment of seizures. She just does it, its has been 10 months of a strict low carb diet and because of that her seizures are under control! I savor each and every one of her successes and accomplishments because I know she has to work hard for them while enduring things that no child should have to. She is an amazing kiddo and I am so very proud and honored to be her mother."
Watch for our C.I.T.Y. Close-Up Facebook Post on the last Friday of every month! We'd love to hear about your child's successes (whatever they may be!) And throughout the year, we will continue to offer several opportunities to win a photography session of your own. The next chance will be in APRIL. We hope you'll participate--it's so powerful to see our community come together to congratulate each other each month.
