This Is How We Lakeview
May 2023 Edition: Volume 2
Hard to believe that we are almost done!
Next week is our LAST FULL week of the 22-23 school year. It is hard to believe that we are already to this point in the school year. Just a heads up that the LAST DAY OF SCHOOL, May 24th, is a 2-hour early release day. Lakeview students will be dismissed at 12:10 pm that day.
We will be doing 1 day of CASH ONLY sales for the May Dance on Wednesday, May 17th during the lunch periods. If you would like to do the cash only sale, please send $7 with your student on this day.
If you received an invitation to the 8th grade awards ceremony, there was a mistake on the invitation. The actual date is FRIDAY, May 19th. Sorry for the confusion.
8th grade Chromebook collection is Monday, May 22nd. In order to help them get their new ones in 9th grade, all 8th graders need to turn in their Chromebooks and chargers on this date. They will be issued a new one in August. Failure to return a Chromebook or power cords will result in a fee placed on Infinite Campus.

MEDICATION PICK UP FROM THE CLINIC
This is a reminder for parents/guardians who brought medication in for their student to have available during the school year. According to the School Board policy, the medication will need to be picked up by a parent/guardian on or before the last day of school, Wednesday, May 24th. Any medication that has not been picked up by the last day of school will be discarded.
If you have any questions or concerns please email melanie_thompson@plsd.us
Reminders from Food Services

You can send cash, a check made payable to "PLSD Food Service" with your student to school, or pay online at mypaymentsplus.com. If you need assistance with My Payments Plus you can reach their parent helpline at 877-237-0946.

Spring Dance is May 20th! Tickets on sale now!
Have you heard about the Spring Dance? It is a semi-formal dance for Lakeview students only that will be held on May 20th from 7:00-9:00 pm. Spring Dance is a special time for our students and their behavior could influence their ability to be able to attend. Lakeview students have to earn the right to be able to attend the dance. Students who receive In-School Study or Out-of-School Suspension starting after Spring Break which is Monday, March 27th and leading up until the day of the dance will not be able to attend. If your student is following our Lakeview values and not engaging in any activities that could get them suspended, then they will be okay to attend. Any questions, please contact Mrs. Hanagan.
Notes on dress code - dress is semi-formal and follows our student dress code, i.e. appropriate length, shirts buttoned, no sagging pants, no undergarments showing, etc. Examples: nice pants (khakis or dress pants) and a shirt (polo or button down), dresses - think nice dress but not like for Prom (no midriff showing, no cut-outs, not backless, try to follow width of 2 fingers for straps). If you have questions or are out shopping, you can always send an email or Talking Points message which will send a notification to Mrs. Hanagan's phone so she should reply quickly.
This is a junior high dance in the cafeteria, this is not like Prom or Homecoming.

May 19th - 8th Grade Awards Ceremony @7:30 am (Students & Families Invite only)
May 20th - May Dance
May 22nd - 7th Grade Awards Ceremony (Students only)
May 22nd - 8th Grade ONLY - Chromebook turn in

May 24th - Last Day of School (12:10 pm dismissal)
Summer Camp Opportunities
The Workforce Center is once again offering summer camps for junior high students. These are for rising 6th, 7th, and 8th graders and include robotics, construction, healthcare, and an all-girls STEM camp. It’s an opportunity to introduce local careers to students while they are still determining their pathway. These come at no cost to the attendees. This year, we are expanding the capacity of the camps through the generosity of Lancaster City Schools. They will be providing teachers and other support. Hocking College and Ohio University will also provide instruction. The link to sign up is below.
