Welcome to the month of March at WAVA. This month our 7 Mindset is 'The Time Is Now'. This mindset helps us to use the power of the moment and take purposeful action. The power to make an impact is in the moment. What are you doing to make an impact and take control of today and apply your strengths? Our team of WAVA Counselors for grades K-12 have opportunities each month on the class connect schedule to share with students about our 7 Mindsets and Social and Emotional Learning. Look on your schedule for optional sessions that you can attend or reach out to a WAVA Counselor today!

Congratulations to WAVA Student August Baik
WAVA student August Baik, 14, will perform the second and third movements of French composer Camille Saint-Saëns’ “Piano Concerto No. 2 in G minor”. This highly accomplished pianist will perform as a soloist with the Cascade Symphony Orchestra – under the direction of Maestro Michael Miropolsky – for its next concert, “Return to Life,” on Monday, March 7. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Edmonds Center for the Arts, 410 4th Ave. N. A pre-concert lecture at 6:30 p.m. by KING-FM radio personality Dave Beck will preview the musical highlights for the evening. We are so proud of you August!

March Photo Contest: Spring Breaking
Our March photo contest theme is Spring Breaking - we want to see pictures of what spring looks like in your area, or what your spring break activities are entailing! So get your cameras out and let's see all those fun photos! Use your creativity to capture the moment.
We are encouraging you to submit a photograph (limit to 1) you have taken relating to our March theme, Spring Breaking, for the chance to win a prize!
A winner in each grade range (K–2, 3–5, 6–8, and 9–12) will be chosen.
The contest runs March 1, 2022 through March 31, 2022.

Testing:
The required annual assessment of English Language Learners runs through March 25th. All students identified as English Language Learners will be contacted with your in-person testing schedule. If you have questions, please reach out to your assigned ELL Teacher. Grades K-5: Karen O'Leary at koleary@wava.org; and Grades 6-12: Lauren Garcia at lgarcia@wava.org.
Annual Spring 2022 Smarter Balanced and WCAS Science testing will be conducted between April 25th and May 13th for most students. Scheduling information will be sent to your student email address in Mid-March. Health and Safety updates will be provided as well.
