Magnolia's First Grade

Issue 5, week of Sept. 26th- Sept. 30

READING/LANGUAGE ARTS:

Spelling Words: bug, rug, tug, mud, us, bus, fun, sun, run, said, puppy, truck

Reading Focus: Choosing just right books will be ongoing. Our friends will set reading goals and self monitor. We will talk about and discuss how to retell a story.

Phonics: Our focus is on short /u/ sound.

Grammar/Writing: Students will continue writing narrative stories about family, friends, vacations, celebrations, etc.

MATH:

Our focus in math continues to be numbers to 10. We will count on and discuss one more/10 more. Students will be representing all number bonds to 10. We will solve word problems. We will practice writing equations/statements.

REMINDERS:

-Ice cream is sold on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Please talk with your child about whether he/she has your permission to buy an ice cream and how often you will allow this purchase.

-We eat lunch at 12:00. You are more than welcome to eat with your child. Space is limited. you can meet your child's class in the purple hall or by the lunchroom.

-Remember to sign the Husky pad daily.

-Please label all backpacks, lunchboxes, jackets, sweaters, etc. with your child's name.

Carline

Carline and/or bus line drop off, please drop off on the side of the building your child’s class is on. Bus riders will enter the building based on the side their classroom is on. Kindergarten parents, if your child is a car rider, please drop them off in the North carline (former PI). All Magnolia Kindergarten students go into the amphitheater on the North side each morning. Also, please encourage parents to “like” our Magnolia Elementary Facebook page. That is the place to find ALL of our announcements and pictures. I will even post the Schoolwide S’more link on there as well.
