September 19, 2022
On Friday afternoon of last week, Ben Franklin Elementary staff and students conducted a lockdown drill. The drill began at 2:30PM and lasted approximately 10 minutes. During the drill, myself and other Ben Franklin staff walked the halls to oversee students and staff conducting our safety protocols. All students and staff followed our lockdown procedures concisely and in a timely manner. Once the drill was concluded, students and staff returned to their usual classroom learning. I apologize for not communicating this with you sooner, as the afternoon got away from me on Friday. This week, we will continue with our final safety drill of September, our safe haven drill. During this drill, students and staff will practice evacuating the building and then proceeding to our safe haven location. This procedure is one we would follow should we not be able to return to the building following a fire, gas leak, etc. or if there were an intruder or danger inside our building. Please remember to talk with your children about the importance of these drills for the safety of everyone in our building. If you have questions about this or any of our safety drills, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Most Sincerely,
Steffany Jewell
Principal

ONLINE ABSENCE/ATTENDANCE FORM
As a reminder, when reporting a student absent for any reason (full day, arriving late, leaving early), please communicate this using the online absence/attendance form here. This is a NEW form this year so if you bookmarked or made a shortcut to the old form from last year, please update. If your child is out sick, the form will also collect information about the symptoms and sickness your child is experiencing so our nursing staff can respond with next steps. Thank you for taking the time to complete this form as it really helps to streamline our processes. The form is located on our website under Parent/Student Info as well as a big button on each school’s home page.

The hills are alive with the sound of music! Join Forte Theatre Company for their mainstage debut at the Saber Center - and one of the most beloved musicals of all time. In Austria, 1938, an exuberant young governess brings music and joy back to a broken family, only to face danger and intrigue as the Nazis gain power. With music and lyrics by Rodgers & Hammerstein, a cast of some of Milwaukee's top professional talent and FPS students playing some of the VonTrapp children, this is a theatrical experience not to be missed!
