Boosterthon Fun Run!
We’re only days away from kicking off the Olive Chapel Fun Run!
We’ll start with a Pep Rally Monday October 15th for Tracks 1, 2, and 3 and another on Monday, October 22nd for Track 4, and then your family will have time to gather pledges. At the end, every student will participate in the Olive Chapel Fun Run (dates and times below)!
Last year we raised $31,000 for new collaborative furniture for the media center. This year, our goal is to raise $33,000 for Technology, and we need EVERYONE’S help! Please begin thinking about friends and family who could pledge your student for the Olive Chapel Fun Run. We want this to be fun and easy for everyone, so think of others who can support your student as they run laps to help our school. Look for a Pledgebook to come home on your track's Pep Rally Monday with more information.
And don’t forget to save the Fun Run Dates:

CREW NEWS
A is for Apple!
Olive Chapel has a new Cafeteria Manager this year - Mrs. Welch!
To support healthy eating at OCE, Mrs. Welch helped OCE participate in NC Crunch day by ordering yummy North Carolina apples. Clippers had the opportunity to CRUNCH their way through breakfast and lunch this past Wednesday, October 10th.
Stay tuned for more updates from Mrs Welch and what’s new in the Cafeteria!
NC Crunch 2018
Yummy!
Thank you!
New Crayola Color Cycle Program
OCE is now a Crayola ColorCycle School!
The OCE PTA is coordinating a new program in conjunction with Crayola called Crayola ColorCycle. This amazing program is devised to repurpose used markers rather than sending them to landfills.
The ColorCycle program has repurposed more than 70 tons of expended markers in the United States and Canada since 2013, and uses the most advanced plastic conversion technologies available to make wax compounds for asphalt and roofing shingles, as well as to generate electricity that can be used to heat homes, cook food, and power vehicles.
Students and teachers all around OCE will be collecting used markers that are ready to be discarded. Please help support our efforts by sending in any used markers you may have around the house -- even non-Crayola brands! Highlighters and dry erase markers can also be included.
OCE will make it's first ColorCycle donation on Nov. 30. Drop-off boxes will be located around the school for your child to deposit their markers.
A special thank you to Ms. Abramo for bringing this program to our attention!
Kids Corps Club Hurricane Relief Project
The OCE Kids Corps Club will be hosting a #letthecoinsflo coin drive from October 1st to November 1st to support an elementary school in New Hanover county affected by Hurricane Florence. We will have a kindergarten/1st grade jar, 2nd/3rd grade jar, and 4th/5th grade jar.
Send in your coins and help a school in need!
LEGO Club
LEGO club is a staff led BEFORE-school club for K, 1st and 2nd grade students only.
LEGO Club focuses on inspiring children to think creatively, reason systematically, and use their imagination to play. LEGO Club will take place on Wednesday mornings from 8:00 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. in the library starting January 2nd. Students must be dropped off promptly at 8:00 a.m.
PLEASE REGISTER EACH CHILD INDIVIDUALLY. If you are interested, please fill out this registration form. There will be a $5 registration fee. You can send the fee into your child's teacher with your child's name on it. Make checks payable to OCE PTA or use this link for online payment.
REGISTRATION WILL CLOSE NOV. 9TH.
If you have any questions, please email Mrs. Brittany Cabaleiro (2nd grade Track 1) at bcabaleiro@wcpss.net.
