Week 1 Recap - Getting to Know Each Other
Both Morning and Afternoon groups spent the first meeting getting to know each other. We played a game involving lots of yarn and what ultimately showed us all how we are connected. This first meeting gave me a chance to get to know your children better as well and identify some initial needs of the group.
The most important thing I learned is that, due to the high demand of the afternoon session, it will be necessary to split the P.M. group. By making the groups smaller we will be able to provide each student with the support they deserve. The sessions will now look like this:
- Thursdays 7:30am-8:40am - no change with this group
- Tuesdays 4:15pm-5:15pm - Students in grades K-2
- Thursdays 4:15pm-5:15pm - Students in grades 3-5
If you have any questions about this change, please email me.
*Afternoon Group will not meet tomorrow, December 18th, due to holiday activities.
*All Groups will resume the week of January 6th!
Our Club Goals
Increase Self-Efficacy
Self-efficacy is the feeling we have when we know we are able to accomplish something - even if it is difficult
School - Career Connection
Even students in Elementary School benefit from learning about how our choices in school connect with our future.
Coping Skills
There are many situations that arise in school that can cause students to feel frustrated, confused, angry or over-excited. Learning how our emotions work and what we can do to manage them increases self-confidence.
