Bravo, Hoover!
Let's Talk about Herbert Hoover, our 31st president, the president during the Great Depression. Some may blame him for the depression but in all truth there is no one to blame. Herbert Hoover did the best her could to aide the country during the Great Depression.
First of all he did all he could to reassure people that things will eventually get better and it did. Although Hoover did not believe in giving handouts he did do what he could to help people help themselves. Hoover took action and created the National Credit Corporation which allowed big banks to give loans to smaller banks to prevent them from going under. Hoover also passed the Federal Home Loan Bank Act which successfully lowered mortgages for home owners and allowed farms to refinance their loans to avoid bankruptcy.
Although some people believe that Hoover did not do enough by not just giving handouts to people Hoover did what he could to help people help themselves and keep the all american pride.
