Mrs. Walters' News
Dear Bushnell Elementary Families,
Congratulations to all of our fabulous Bushnell Bears for a wonderful school year! We wish you an amazing Summer filled with fun, adventure, exploring and READING!!!
Yesterday we enjoyed our Day of Awesomeness! See the videos and pictures below of the fun we had. What a great way to celebrate the end of the school year and play the morning away!
Bushnell Bears, you make a difference in our community! For Food Fight, our school collected almost 300 food items and more than $100 to share with others at the Flat River Outreach Ministry's Food Pantry. This means that the Pantry will have full shelves of food to share with people who live in our town. FROM wants you to know that every little donation makes a difference. Thank you, Bushnell Bears, for helping!
As we finish up this last week of school, I cannot emphasize enough how important it is for your children to keep academically involved over the summer. Each year it is typical for us to see a drop in academic levels for many students following the summer break. Students who continue to read frequently and work on math activities (www.reflexmath, www.sumdog.com, and www.ixl.com, are a few math sites I would recommend) over the summer are much more likely to avoid a summer drop in achievement levels. Remember, our library will be open for Arrow Readers on the Move. Make sure to sign up for this on our website. Please try to set some goals with your child regarding how much reading and/or math practice he/she will do over the summer. Just a few hours each week can have a profound impact.
Don’t forget to check out all of the summer camps that are taking place this summer. There are many great sports camps to choose from. Go to https://www.lowellsportscamps.com/ to sign up! Deadline is May 20th if you want to ensure receiving a t-shirt.
Finally, we say farewell to a few members of our staff. Congratulations to Dawn Emelander and Barb Callihan on their well earned retirements. They will surely be missed.
We also say bon voyage to three fantastic teachers; Mrs. Henige will be moving to Murray Lake to teach 5th grade, Mrs. DeRuiter will be at Cherry Creek teaching 2nd grade, and Mrs. Wilson is headed to Hastings to teach kindergarten in her home town. We wish them all good luck in their new positions!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Erin Walters
