School Night Out
School Night Out!!!! Oct. 1st 5-6:30 pm. Bring a picnic dinner or snack and join classmates and parents for a fun afternoon on the lawn at TCE. We will have games, face painting, music, reader’s theater and representatives from the police and fire department. Engage with your school community. This FREE family and school event is sponsored by your TCE Student Council.
Parking Lot Reminders
The law says that the only time pedestrians have the right of way is when they are in a MARKED crosswalk! The parking lot is NOT a marked crosswalk, therefore pedestrians DO NOT have the right of way! Please teach our students to be safe: Look before you cross. Make sure the drivers see you.
READ-a-THON is back!!!
The Turner Creek Elementary PTA is kicking off the 2nd annual READaTHON that will be run completely in house!!! That means that 100% of the money raised will stay at Turner Creek! The purpose of this event is to encourage our students to develop a lifelong love of reading while raising money to support our school. Each student is asked to make a personal reading goal over a 7 day time period. You choose which 7 days! We are looking for your support to help them make the “Leap into Reading” a success by collecting flat pledge amounts from family and friends to support our students' goals.
Help us keep our fundraisers in-house!
Please visit www.tce-pta.org/readathon-2019
for updates throughout the event.
Track1, 2, 3: October 1-11

Biscuitville Breakfast After Dark Spirit Night - October 15
Come enjoy breakfast for dinner at Biscuitville at 2820 Highway NC-55 on Tuesday, October 15 from 5-8 pm. Mention that you are with Turner Creek and our school will receive 20% of all sales.
Carpool Safety!
As you exit carpool, please be attentive to the carpool divot that can throw your car off if your tire lands in it and may affect the precious humans that may be in the crosswalk!
We have had some recent close encounters with people driving and looking down at their cell phones!
PLEASE NO CELL USE while driving in carpool!
PTA Membership 2019-2020
The Turner Creek Elementary (TCE) PTA brings parents, teachers, and administrators together to enhance our children's success. When you join the TCE PTA, you become an important part of a partnership that encourages student achievement, enriches the learning environment, and works to improve our school and community. Together, we are a powerful voice for our children.
Last year, the PTA was able to support various student enrichment programs offered at the school such as United Arts Chorus, Talent Show, Chess Club awards, and Robotics as well as fund teacher grants and school improvement projects.
Your PTA Membership dues go directly towards funding these programs. For additional benefits of Membership, please visit the Membership Page on our website.
Join the PTA today! Don't forget to provide the Name(s), Grade(s) and Track(s) of your students at Turner Creek when you join.
Donations needed
Our Health Room is in need of Girls and Boys underwear in small sizes. If you are able to donate any to Turner Creek, we would be grateful!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Do You Know About the Types of School Board Meetings?
The school board establishes a schedule for its meetings each year. There are different kinds:
Full board meetings are held at least once a month in the Board Room at the WCPSS Central Services building, Crossroads I, 5625 Dillard Dr., Cary. Citizens are invited to sign up to speak during the public comment portion of the meeting.
Work sessions are typically held in the Board Conference Room at Crossroads I. These are less formal opportunities for the school board to discuss issues, receive reports, and provide guidance to the superintendent and staff.
Committee meetings, whether standing or ad hoc, are established and scheduled by the chair in consultation with the board to focus on specific issues or school system functions such as finance or facilities.
Board Advisory Council (BAC) meetings are made up of citizen members, school administrators and other staff to provide feedback and consultation to each board member by district. These are open to everyone.
You can see a schedule of upcoming board meetings on the WCPSS online calendar (hyper link to this) https://www.wcpss.net/Page/3729#calendar7447/20190923/month
The school system also releases a weekly posting of board meetings at least 48 hours in advance.

A picture of the new label is pictures to the left.
Questions? Heather Holt, hnaholt@gmail.com
We earned $784 during the 2018-2019 school year!! The next Box Tops submission date is November 1, 2019. Please make sure they have valid dates (dated 11/1/2019 and beyond). If the Box Top is labeled between 3/1/2019-10/30/2019, we have to throw them away! The Box Tops collection bin is in the TCE lobby across from the main office. Box Tops are each worth 10¢ and they quickly add up to real cash for our school. Here is a link showing participating Box Tops products.
Clip Tyson Project A+ labels from participating Tyson® product packages and send them to school with your child. We’ll collect the labels and send them to Tyson Foods, and Tyson Foods will send our school a check. Each label is worth 24¢!
Please drop your Tyson Project A+ labels in the Box Tops collection bin in the TCE lobby. Here is a link for a list of participating products.

Help TCE PTA earn $100
Even if you have linked your Harris Teeter VIC card to our school in the past, you must re-link it each summer for the school to earn money when you shop at Harris Teeter. Last year, we raised nearly $600 simply by our families linking their VIC cards to TCE.
We currently have 59 families that have linked their VIC card to TCE. If we can reach 96 linked cards by October 16th, we can earn a $100 bonus check. Please help us reach this goal.
For detailed instructions on how to link-up, please visit
