Parent Input Forms for 2019-2020
It is hard to believe but it is that time of year to begin preparing for next year. Parents wishing to give input about their child for the next school year are asked to pick up or request a PARENT INPUT FORM from the office. These forms are due back to school by April 15th. These forms along with our work as a school team help us to develop balanced and productive classrooms. All input forms must be submitted to the office by April 15th. Forms will not be accepted after the deadline.
Art Show Participants
We would like to recognize the following students for having entries in the Plains Art Museum Art Show.
Daphne Kram—2nd grade
Emma Ness—3rd grade
Drew Burris—5th grade
ATTENTION CURRENT 4TH GRADERS: ARE YOU IN-TERESTED IN JOINING 5TH GRADE ORCHESTRA?
The orchestra teachers will be coming to 4th grade music classrooms during the month of May to show your child the instruments of the orchestra (violin, viola, cello and bass) and demonstrate the characteristics of each. Orchestra classes will begin next fall for 5th graders who are interested in being a part of the program.
Students and their parents/guardians are asked to attend one of the following rental nights from 5:00-7:00:
- Thursday, May 16th at Carl Ben Eielson
- Tuesday, May 21st at Ben Franklin
- Thursday, May 23rd at Discovery
At the event, you can sign up to rent an instrument and purchase supplies. Also, please plan on attending one of the parent information sessions either at 5:00-5:30 or 6:00-6:30. The parent information session will give you a chance to ask any questions and learn about opportunities you will have in orchestra. Plan to spend a total of about one hour. You may go to one of the three music stores in the area if you are unable to attend any of these rental nights.

Safe Routes to School Study
In 2019, the Fargo-Moorhead Metropolitan Council of Governments (Metro COG) is working with the City of Fargo to create a Safe Routes to School plan. The goal of Safe Routes to School (SRTS) plans and programs is to increase the number of students walking and biking to school through encouragement and education programs, as well as physical improvements to streets and sidewalks.
The 2019 Fargo SRTS Plan will recommend how to make walking and biking to school easier, safer and more comfortable for students and families. Recommended improvements will be made for all elementary and middle schools within the City of Fargo including Fargo Public Schools, West Fargo Public Schools, and Private Schools.
In the upcoming months, there will be a number of exciting activities involving the school community. Parent and caregiver surveys will be sent home (either electronically or hard copy) to gather valuable insight from families about walking and biking to school. Later in the spring, project staff and other members of the school community will be visiting each school to observe arrival and dismissal and assess walking and biking conditions near schools. There will also be four public open houses held around the City to talk about the project and learn more from the community.
Please contact your school principal if you'd like to be involved. You can learn more at the project website: http://www.fmmetrocog.org/projects-rfps/fargo-safe-routes-school-plan
COG Safe Routes to School Public Meetings
Metro COG is offering public input meetings to collaborate with the community on the Fargo Safe Routes to School Plan. The intent of these meetings is to share information on existing conditions for walking and biking to school and gather comments from the community. The open houses will give families and community stake-holders an opportunity to provide input on issues and needs related to biking and walking. Everyone is invited to participate in whichever open house they’d prefer. Each meeting will be focused on the schools in that area (see below), but will also have information on the plan as a whole and the approach is consistent across all neighbor-hood/public input areas. The public meetings will be held at each middle school at the following times:
