Pre-AP Science ~ Mrs. Sanchez and Ms. Marek
Marek: We will be launching Forces of Change, an interdisciplinary unit on force, motion, and social activism. We will be utilizing literature to make connections between the physical forces that govern our world and the “forces” involved in social movements.
Sanchez: We will be launching a mini-unit titled RIPPLE, a unit about energy conservation in our school community. Students will design, revise, and share Energy Action Plans for managing our natural resources at STEAM. Plans will be worked on in class and will be due Friday the 23rd.

Accelerated Science ~ Mrs. Irons
We will be launching a two week unit titled, “To Infinity and Beyond” to finish studying the universe around us. We will focus on stars, galaxies, HR Diagrams, the electromagnetic spectrum, and light years. Student Portfolios will be due March 29 and will consist of class DIYs and mini-products. We will test on Thursday, March 29.

Welcome back! We will spend the first half of the week reviewing the material over triangles (triangle inequality theorem and the triangle sum theorem). We will test on this content on Wednesday, March 21st. We will launch our new unit on Thursday that will focus on area and volume equations. Be watching for new vocabulary words to come home for this unit.

This week we will continue our unit over probability. Students will be learning about experimental and theoretical probability and how to make predictions based on experimental data.
Humanities ~ Mrs. Moore, Ms. Lindamood, Mrs. Strother and Ms. Peden
Students are off to a great start on their literature circles. Each group has created a reading schedule they should be following. Please check with your student to see if they are following the schedule. Students will also be exploring the reasons for European involvement in World War II.
The Water for South Sudan fundraiser contines. At this point, we have collected $500 for building wells to provide safe, clean drinking water for the people of South Sudan. Please continue to support and follow the progress of our Iron Giraffe Challenge by checking out this site. See this example of a completed project to promote the fundraiser such as this commercial.
Global Business and Professional Communication ~ Ms. Tedford and Ms. Owen
Welcome back from Spring Break! This week we will review our research about fair trade and begin brainstorming and planning for the children’s books we are writing. We will be doing Research/Work about creative writing before we start our first drafts. Students will get a new vocabulary list this week and their quiz will be next Monday, March 26th.

This week students will be completing their Piskel Animation unit. Each student is creating a custom animation showing a creative character.
Beginning Band ~ Mr. Sypert
Students have their concert music and are working on sections of each piece. Please help make sure they are practicing at least 10 minutes each day.
