•During the regular school day;
•While the student is in transit to and from school on District transportation;
•While the student is on school property or within 300 feet of school property;
• While the student is participating in or is in attendance at any activity/event during the school day or after school hours;
•While on another district campus before, during or after school
Basic Discipline Guidelines
•Discipline shall be administered when necessary to protect students, school employees or property and maintain essential order and discipline.
•Students shall be treated fairly and equitably. Discipline shall be based on careful assessment of the circumstances of each case.
–(a) Seriousness of the offense;
–(b) Student’s age;
–(c) Frequency of the misconduct;
–(d) Student’s attitude;
–(e) Potential effect of the misconduct on the school environment.
• “Days” shall mean “school days” not “calendar days.”

Pants
•No shorter than finger-tip length
•May not be oversized
•No baggy pants
•Dress/skirt slit may not exceed finger-tip length
•Leggings/tights are prohibited except when worn with shorts/skirts, which must still meet the finger-tip length requirement.

Hair
•Must be a natural hair color
•Not streaks of color/inserts
•No mohawks
•When extended to full length, a male’s hair should not extend below the eyebrow or the bottom of the ear lobe or below the collar of a dress shirt.
•Men, no facial hair…You will be asked to shave
Other dress code issues
•Clothing must be free from lewd or obscene pictures or comments
•Cannot advertise tobacco, alcohol, drugs, violence, vulgarity, gangs, sexual symbolisms
•No trench coats
•Boys may not wear earrings
•NO BODY PIERCINGS!!!
•No tattoos-must be covered at all times
•No wallet chains
•No caps or sunglasses in the building.
•Principal has full authority over dress code.
Cell Phones
Cafeteria/Passing Periods are okay. Classrooms are designated for learning.
Remember this is a privilege and can be taken away if not used in a responsible manner.

ATTENDANCE
What do I do if I am absent?
•Your attendance is critical.
•Awards for perfect and good attendance
•Turn notes into front office.
•Check in at front office with Mrs. Cathey
•Bring note from doctor / parent or guardian
•Get makeup work with every teacher…its YOUR RESPONSIBILITY!

What if I have excessive absences?
Students will be required to make up seat time during times designated by the principal.
Be cool and come to school!
Medications at School
•No student is allowed to have any medications on them at ANY time.
•Turn in any medications to the school health clerk, Mrs. Cathey.
•Must have a green pass to see

If you are ill, you need to see Mrs.
Cathey, before calling home.
Z.A.P. (Zeroes Aren't Permitted)
•Wednesdays until 4:30.
•Opportunity to get caught up on you work!
•Best way to avoid ZAP is to TAKE CARE OF BUSINESS.
•If assigned, it is mandatory you attend and you must arrange for a ride.

Searches
•The school has the right to search your lockers, classrooms, and vehicles.
•300 ft rule applies.
•NEVER bring tobacco, drugs, or alcohol on campus.
•Pocket knives are prohibited.
•NEVER BRING A FIREARM ON CAMPUS. THIS IS A FEDERAL LAW! HUGE CONSEQUENCES!!!!! Ammunition falls under this as well.
If the school suspects you have something at school you shouldn't...
•I may search you-ask you to empty pockets, backpack, take off shoes, etc
•I will always do it with a witness.
•This is within the school’s right.
Vehicles on Campus
•Must be in grades 10-12 with a valid driver’s license and proof of liability insurance required by Texas law.
•Give copies to Mrs. Cathey by Friday.
•Not allowed to park at neighboring houses within 300 feet of school.
•They are still considered school property and liable for random searches.
ONLY PARK IN A MARKED PARKING SPACE.
Do not park across from the front of the school or gym. This is your warning and we will
tow it.
YOU MAY DRIVE TO ATHLETICS IF...
•You have a valid driver’s license
•You have your own vehicle
•You do not give rides to other students.
•You can lose your privilege if you break this rule.
NEVER LEAVE CAMPUS WITHOUT PERMISSION
•Must sign out in front office.
•If you need to run to your car, you must get a car pass from Mrs. Cathey.

No Semester Exemptions This School Year
Food and Drinks
•No outside drinks or food allowed in classrooms.
•Water bottles are up to individual teachers
•No coffee mugs or nontransparent containers allowed.
Tardies
•5 minute passing period.
•School begins at 7:55
•The first bell rings at 7:50
•Lunch dhalls will be assigned for
tardies. If tardies become excessive, you will receive an office referral.
- After ten minutes, you are considered absent.
- Pick up tardy slip from front office if you are tardy!

Asking to spend the night with someone is not an emergency.
You can use it during the passing period and lunch...NOT DURING CLASS.
