Mrs. Kincer's Happy Campers
January 13th
Happy New Year, and welcome back to a solid routine again after a very nice break!
I'm excited to share this weekly newsletter with you to keep you informed about what's happening in our classroom currently. Thanks for reading!
RENAISSANCE LEARNING
Our 1st-semester points are being cashed in on some fun activities!! Keep reading and working to meet our new goals for Quarter 3 and the second semester.
RILEY'S WEEK
Please check Mrs. Bauer's newsletter for the special days throughout this entire week. Thank you for helping us to support Riley's Children's Hospital.
SENSORY STATIONS
We've been learning about our brains and regulating our emotions during our Mindfulness lessons this year. It's fascinating, and we'd like to delve further into this by creating SENSORY STATIONS for each classroom. Here is a link if you can help us acquire some materials needed for this project. https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/3W0P2S4ZZFIHX?ref_=wl_share
NOTES FOR THE WEEK
We're learning about the basic rights and freedoms our nation's Constitution and Bill of Rights grants us. We're also learning about civic duties and civil rights. We're having a test on Wednesday, January 22nd.
- Your child should be reading 15-20 minutes every night. Thanks for helping us to build our reading stamina!
- Be sure to ask what your child is reading in small groups, too.
- STONE FOX is our chapter book this week - please ask your child about the chapters we're covering in class each day. (If you have an older child who has read this book, please please caution him/her NOT to share any of the events in the book with your 3rd grader before we read those parts.)
ENGLISH/LANGUAGE ARTS
This is Unit 3 Week 6 with NO new grammar, new spelling, and no new selections or reading skills.POW
Your student will bring home a POW about a snowman coming to life this Friday. This POW is due on Friday, Jan. 24th. Please read the prompt carefully as there is specific information to include in each section.
MATH
We LOVED our Math Mastery Movie afternoon last Friday!! Keep practicing those facts - we've had quite a few students move on to their 100-fact timed test!
We're working on problem-solving, multiplying by multiples of 10, and heading into data and graphs.
GENERAL NOTES
- Please sign the assignment notebook nightly. Asking to see your child's homework will go a long way toward helping make a stronger home-school connection.
- We use our Chromebooks and headphones or earbuds just about every day, so please make sure your child has earbuds or headphones.
- We love having a healthy snack for our mid-morning break. We also appreciate students having a water bottle at school - this helps keep them hydrated throughout the day.
- Our morning breakfast program is going very well! Students who are dropped off in the car line should plan to arrive by 7:40 if they plan to eat before the bell rings at 7:50.

Here is a look at our special class schedule. Please note that Gym and Library are both on Mondays. Please send your child in gym shoes and remind them to bring their library books. You can find more about our daily routines on our Third Grade Website!
