A message from our ākonga
Five of our Year 6 students from Mr Goodwin's class shared some of their thoughts and highlights so far for 2022:
SECOND WEEK BACK
"The second week back at school has been awesome. Our class is adjusting back after the long holidays and having lots of fun with our new teacher Mr Goodwin." - Jakaila Hori
LUNCHES
"The lunches are really really good. They are fresh. Thank you to the chefs in the school kitchen. My favourite lunch so far was the nachos" - Gabby Scarlett
NEW TEACHER MATT GOODWIN
"Our new teacher Mr Goodwin is really cool, he is kind and fits in well to our school. We are lucky to be in his class this year." - Damon Judd
NEW CLASSROOM
"I am excited that we get to move into the new classroom once it opens. We are making do in the old Rimu classroom for now. The building looks like it is nearly finished and we will have more space in our school" - Kemp Hancock
SCHOOL VALUES
"This year we have a new school value Kia Ora, which means Be Well. We also have the Mako shark." - Te Waiaurere Mahinekura

Our vision here at Puketapu School is to “Empower All People to be Healthy, Lifelong Learners”. The values of Kia Kaha (Do your best) , Kia Maia (Be courageous), Kia Manawanui (have a heart) all support our vision and are part of who we are at Te Kura O Puketapu (adults & tamariki).
This year we are excited to introduce a 4th value, Kia ora (Be well). This value has been introduced to support our overall Health and Wellbeing.
The Te Whare Tapa whā model and Winning Ways to Wellbeing are interwoven into our value of Kia ora.
KA ORA KA AKO - LUNCHES IN SCHOOL
This week we have had macaroni cheese, nachos and ham and cheese sandwiches. Yum!
Lunches are served to all students, every day!
(Once the MoE has given us formal approval of our fortnightly menu, we will be sharing this with our community.)

ICT Responsible Use Agreement
IMPORTANT - For all Year 4-8 Students
In order for any student to use a Chromebook or iPad at school, parents of Year 4-8 students must have signed the ICT Responsible Use agreement.
The good news is that this is very easy to do. If you haven't already done so, read the Hero notice ICT Responsible Use Agreement - For all Year 4-8 Students
and click the electronic declaration.
School Photos are Coming!
Start practising those smiles!
Ordering will be done online. After Photo Day, you will receive a personalised code to view and order your child's individual and class photo.
There is nothing to pay before Photo Day, but you must let us know before Photo Day if you would like a sibling photo taken. Order forms will be available from the school office soon.
OUR SCHOOL IN RED
Last week our school started back under the Red setting. While this has brought about some challenges for our ākonga (learners) and kaiako (teachers), we are very proud of how everyone has returned back to school.
For more information, please click the link below (this info has also been sent out via HERO and FB) and take the time to read through how our school is operating to ensure we can meet the health guidance for Red.

There are some significant changes from how we operated last year under Levels 2 & 3.
Please note that we continue to receive regular updates from the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education, and this plan is subject to change (we will let you know if these changes are significant)
If you have any specific questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us via email at office@puketapu.school.nz
