Math Tips from Mrs. Lathinghouse
Tip #1:
Utilize the access you have to the Teach Eureka (Digital Suite) on www.greatminds.org. Select "Log In" in the top right corner and then enter:
Username: kspence@walton.k12.fl.us
Password: MSE1920
This program has a video for every single Eureka Math lesson and it's taught by teachers for teachers. These videos model strategies and problem solving methods found within the Concept Development in your Eureka Math lessons. If you don't have time to watch an entire video you can scroll to the lesson(s) you're about to teach.
Tip #2:
Maude Saunders now has a great quantity and variety of math manipulatives in the Intervention Room (304). Organization is still taking place, but materials are available to you for use in your lessons. For virtual manipulatives, check out https://www.didax.com/math/virtual-manipulatives.html. These are great for modeling or working problems on the ClearTouch. Just remember that you will need to use the wireless mouse to move items on the screen - the pen is not compatible.

Conference Tips:
At your first conference, share the Family/Student/Teacher Expectations and Responsibilities included in the Title 1 Compact. Be sure to get signatures from all three parties, if possible. Give parents a copy and keep the signed one for yourself. This document should be revisited at future conferences and in instances where unmet responsibilities are interfering with academic achievement.
