The ACTS Group

September Update

From the Director

In the Spring of this year, a team met to rethink Q Commons Sacramento and invest time, energy and money into creating a premiere one night experience to link people with a common heart and vision to “stay curious, think well and advance good”. We said “yes” to continuing partnership with www.Qideas.org nationally and creating experiences locally that link gospel centered leaders. Gabe Lyons, founder of Q Ideas, has done a great job over the last 8 years or so of building a tribe of curious, thinking, activists who happen to have Jesus right in the middle of everything. Here in the Sacramento region, we have been developing a platform www.convergence.world that is intent on this same thing, so it was a natural connection with Q in early 2014.

This year, our local lineup is “stellar” with the Executive Director of World Impact, Efrem Smith, sharing about understanding issues of race that are stirring around the country. We also have Pastor Scott Hagan who will speak on the issue of fatherlessness, with William Jessup University President John Jackson moderating a “panel of possibilities” in how this issue is being directly addressed in our city. Sosamma Samuel Burnett rounds out our local speaker group as she gives perspective on issues of social and economic justice as it relates to the upcoming election cycle.

Straight up – don’t miss this night to be around other leaders who will be connecting with these vital topics and finding others who want to find the ways to transform lives and culture.

Every School / Every Neighbor Initiative

On Tuesday, August 25, Jeff Kreiser, Executive Director of The ACTS Group , and other leaders shared the vision of Every School/Every Neighbor Initiative with the Folsom Cordova Unified School District principals, administration, city representatives and Rancho Cordova and Folsom area pastors. The gathering of leaders heard testimonies of positive church/school partnerships happening in several Folsom and Rancho Cordova schools. This event, coordinated by the school district, was designed to be a way for pastors and principals to build relationships as well as inspire more partnerships between churches and schools in the Rancho Cordova and Folsom communities. Many leaders left the luncheon inspired to begin new partnerships to better serve their students and their families.

Prayer Leaders Fellowship

Prayer Leaders Fellowship is a vital connection group that happens quarterly through SacramentoPRAYS. The vision is to connect prayer leaders who are charged by their pastors to lead prayer in their local church. Meeting on a Saturday morning, three hours of food, friendship, prayer (of course) and encouraging testimonies and teaching refreshes local prayer leaders. Some of this group met in August prior to a training for the upcoming Worship, Prayer and Healing event on September 20 hosted by Bridgeway Church. The Prayer Leaders Fellowship is a key way SacramentoPRAYS continues to build united persistent prayer in the region.

Financial Update & Partners Like You

I am looking forward to writing one of these reports letting you all know that we have “plenty” and we are simply rejoicing. For now, we continue to “do more with less”. I am working with ACTS Group because, like you, I know that this ministry is necessary to catalyze and mobilize united Christian initiatives in the Sacramento region so everyone can know the reality of Jesus. ACTS Group is coming out of summer in need of a financial boost to move ahead with the Every School/Every Neighbor Initiative and fall events like Q Commons. As an individual, you can make a huge difference by setting up a monthly financial contribution here . If you represent a business or company, our new underwriting program can allow you to tie your business and brand to the great things God is doing to build gospel movement momentum through the ACTS Group. If this is your interest, I would love to hear from you at Merisa@ACTSonline.net

“The Church of Sacramento has shown that it needs a unifying catalyst. Sometimes God chooses to use catastrophic circumstances and calamities. For Sacramento God has chosen a sustained move through open hearts and the ACTS Group, which exists for the exclusive purpose of being used by Him as He leads in the reconciliation and restoration of His Body to Himself, for the purpose of furthering the Kingdom of God in Sacramento and throughout the world. Hallelujah and Amen!”
